My new Plusrite 400 watt Mercury Vapor DX lamp.
Got it from ebay, I wanted a 400 watt MV lamp for a while, so I got this one on ebay for 6 bucks, (+shipping).

I know not the best quality lamp.. But heh. xD I don't always want the best quality. Sometimes I want any lamp really. If it works, Yay!

Hehe I also sometimes buy any lamp I could find even though it might be junk Very Happy

I will buy a good quality lamp in most cases, unless the cheapie is at a ridiculous low price that I can buy a whole lot for less than the price of the quality brand, and replacing them as they die is easy.

I usually buy Sylvania. I have a tendancy to break my 400w MV lamp in my M-400, so if it breaks again, I'm buying another china lamp. Right now is a Sylvania /DX standard envelope lamp. Before I used 400w MV Plusrite /DX cram lamps

I have never broken a lamp yet, so trust me, I won't break this. xD

Don't screw this in tight. The basew will cave in. They use cheap bonding to hold the screw part to the contact.

I had that happen to a 100w yellow incandescent before, I still have it but it's packed away right now. Someday I'll desolder the leads and see if I can epoxy the base back on.

I thought of that, but it would just be better for me to but a new lamp as it was a junk lamp anyway and I'm not experienced with epoxy

Meh I got another one too but I'll have to try fixing the broken one later.

Blueish? Razz
GullWhiz   [May 10, 2011 at 03:58 PM]
This one is one of the worst brand I have ever used!
streetlight98   [May 10, 2011 at 07:29 PM]
I did like the color though. It was a cooler white. It was a bit greenish and not glarey.
GullWhiz   [May 10, 2011 at 08:22 PM]
Because the coating wasn't phosphous...it was a simple coating....
joe_347V   [May 10, 2011 at 08:47 PM]
I have a Feit MV lamp that's like that too, it looks more like a diffused clear merc when lit.
streetlight98   [May 10, 2011 at 11:18 PM]
Yes, it was phosphor coated. It said /DX on the box. I noticed the coating was very thick, like on my china no name 175w merc.
