Hmm, what's this some wall light?
Found a 12" green turn arrow today and decided to turn it into a wall light with a circline fixture I had lying around for a few years. The circline fixture was from Restore and had a broken diffuser so I only kept the ballast and metal base from it. I used some angle brackets, strapping, and screws to make the lens holder bracket.

Fixture will be mounted properly after I get a round JB for it.

My restore has a circline fixture too but i don't know if it's magnetic or electronic. I don't want it if it's electronic. I sometimes can't tell if something's worth getting or not. While everything is pretty cheap, i don't want to buy something and then end up chucking it. I think i'll take pics with my phone so you guys can see what's at my restore.

very clever design you made! i've thought about jerry rigging a keyless lampholder to hold an 8" or 12" signal reflector. That way i could probably get away with using a 40W lamp for 100W worth of light!

Thanks, the circline fixture fixture I used has a cheap electronic ballast. When it dies I'll swap out the ballast with a preheat choke. And yeah post some pics, sometimes fixtures can appear modern but can be much older. I scored a NOS 1973 2x F40 striplight that had a modern looking box.

I can show some detail pics of how the lens is mounted if you want. Also if you want to jerry rig a 8 or 12" reflector to a keyless lampholder I would use some angle brackets and a hose clamp to mount it.

I recommend using a aluminium reflector as glass might be too fragile (and rare) to be used that way.

oh yeah aluminum all the way. i don't see myself getting a glass reflector at any point anyways. i was thinking getting a medium-to-medium socket extender and just sticking the reflector in between that and the lampholder lol.

Yeah glass reflectors are quite rare, I was lucky to score mine for a good price. Razz

I got the rest of the parts I needed to mount this light up and now it's on this wall.

Oh and also this lens looks like it's a older plastic lens since it's green instead of turquoise like on the newer plastic lenses and the glass lenses. It's made by LFE TCD Automatic Signal and still has the rubber gasket.

did you link to the right pic? Neutral interesting how it still appears turquiose in the pic. i personally like the truely green lenses beter.

Yep it's on that empty patch of wall between the corkboard and the signs.
