The 175W Mv is NOS from i think 1975 and the BT25 is well used from 1982. the arc tube is offcentered as the support is severly bowed. lamp still works like a charm and bright too!
@Dave; come to think of it yeah he said 1973... goo to know the month too!
@Joe; thanks, yep now i have the NOS 70W HPS Westie, a super dim westie cleartop, a super dim Sylvania clear top, and this westie as part of my BT-25 collection.
yeah but a clear MV BT-25 is woth tripple points. I'd love a clear BT-25 merc but didn't buy one of the sylvania ones on ebay. I might grab some of the HPS BT-25s to if the seller that listed the 175W lifeguards doesn't list the M-250R1 soon. I'm starting to get angry since she said she'd list it a WEEK ago from today.
yep, that's why i had originally wanted it. It all started with me wanting a BT25 lamp since i didn't have any. Then Jace offered to send me a BT-25 but at the time i didn't have a 100W MV fixture so he said he'd send me a NEMA head i could use with the BT25. It was the summer of 2011 that i had asked for a BT25. So it's been about two years but WELL worth the wait. Thanks again Jace your the best! He even sent me some PCs and NEMA tags since there was a delay in getting a box and stuff. At the time i'd had a 175W yardblaster that i had sent off to Gil in Illinois.
My godparents have an old Regent yard light (one of the ones with the lamp in at an angle) on their shed and it sports a fully-coated Westy /DX Ligeguard lamp! (how it got THERE is anyone's guess). I hope I can score the fixture and lamp someday...
Those angled lamp regent yard lights from the 80s were boxed with Westie lifeguard lamps, then philips lamps after the takeover. those lamps were fully coated. so tht fixture has its original lamp! and probably the orginal PC too. what kind of PC is it? It's probably a "real" PC too.
I can't tell the make/model of photocell but I do know it's very yellowed and I think the little "window" is gone. Regardless, I THINK it would dayburn if left on (it's on a regular light switch and almost NEVER used...when I lit it for a few seconds it may very well have been the first time since I lit it two years ago...
I wanna say it had an ED lamp but my childhood memory is probably tricking me...what would the date be if it had a 0 and a 5 on the etch where 1 and 3 is on the lamp pictured above?
if the window is missing then replace it because if you leave the light on and moisture gets in, the Pc will short out and it might destroy the ballast or lamp. i can't date lamps but Dave D. (silverlinerOV-14B) can help or jace since they're skilled lamp decoders.
It's rarely used, and even then in hot, dry, dusty CA so I don't think that'll be an issue...how could it destroy the ballast/lamp if it's inline before it? Wouldn't the breaker just trip?
Undervoltage, etc...better to play it on the safe side! If/when I get it someday (it's on my list of "Stuff that isn't mine...but might be someday") I will replace the PC.
I don't have a coated BT-25 merc though.
