RESTORE FIND: 1970s Sylvania F20T12
It's heavily used but works fine. I'm not about to put a lamp like this into regular use though. It still works like normal and probably doesn't have a lot of hours left on it so I want to keep it working condition. Only $0.25!

Wow mike you really scored good today! should have stopped at the restore here but its in a real ghetto area (pontiac MI)

Yeah I really did score! I was expecting maybe a table lamp or two. Laughing I found a room full of just that, but the basement is where all the goodies that I came home with were. Smile This restore is in the most bizarre place. It's right on the main road but it's in the middle of freakin nowhere. Laughing There's a couple service stations and some farms but you just wouldn't expect a bargain outlet type place to be in a rural area. Laughing It worked out though since i scored big time.

I was having a conversation with a guy plowing through a box of sockets and socket adapters (didn't even look at those, though maybe there are some rarebirds with that too...) He was finding parts to fix some flush mount globe lights. He actually pointed out the Philips lamp to me. He was going to buy it and resell it but he just gave it to me! Shocked Very Happy There were some oldish looking reflector lamps too but i tend to leave loose incandescents alone since i can't garentee the filaments are any good. I had to get the T-shaped Philips 3-way lamp though.

Mfd 11/72. Nice find!

Thanks Dave! I was relieved to find it still works on both ends. I know for some reason some lamps work when installed one way but when the lamp is flipped around it doesn't light or it rectifies. Thankfully with this lamp that is not the case! Though the etch end is quite black when lit.

Cool find! Did you test it on preheat or trigger start?
The blackening might be mercury condensation, I had this happen with a Norelco F40CW once...but after a couple hours it burnt off...try leaving this on for a couple hours...

I tested this and the other F20 on a preheat ballast (my closet light to be exact) and the F15T12 on my closet light's original ballast,a Universal TS.

Cool! But yeah, I might try letting it run for a few hours to see if the blackening will burn off...
