Lamps From Joe Maurath
From Left to Right starting in the back: NOS Westie "Eye-Saving" lamp with its original sleeve, it's 150W | 175W Westinghouse cleartop LifeGuard lamp with very low hours (date code is 5 on one side of the W logo, 4 on the other) | Westinghouse 100W cleartop lifeguard lamp with very black arctube (date code is 3 on both sides of W logo) | Sylvania 100W cleartop with very black arc tube (date code "64") | Sylvania 100W ET23.5 with semi-black arc tube (date code is "MR 4-94" which is stamped on a metal tab on the stem) | NOS 200W GE mogul base lamp (i have two). I think these are rare... | Sylvania 400W cleartop with non-original sleeve (though i believe it's period-correct). The date on this one is "01" i believe. I've tested all of them except for the 400 and 175 watt lamps and they all work.

Thanks to anyone who can date any of these lamps! ^_^

NOS Westie "Eye-Saving" lamp with its original sleeve - May 1964 i believe, I have a 70s version and it has different sleeve and date coding on top.

Westinghouse 100W cleartop lifeguard lamp March 1973

Sylvania 100W cleartop April 1975

Sylvania 100W ET23.5 has to be April 1994 but that's not usually a date code Sylvania used either in GTE or Osram days...but 1993-1994 was when it was carried over from GTE to Osram

NOS 200W GE mogul base lamp (i have two). I think these are rare

Sylvania 400W cleartop I may need more information on this one but I think January 1971

Thanks jace. Very Happy The cleartop 400W lamp has "01" printed under the lamp wattage and has the same etch style as the 100W one.

It's the BIG fonts right? If so then my answer remains the same....
streetlight98   [Aug 01, 2012 at 03:22 AM]
Yeah it's a large size with thin numbers and letters.

The GE mogul 200 watt lamp can be dated, but I am unsure how to date it, but date code is on the stem press....Dave D (Silverliner14B should know how though)

Okay I'll check it Thursday. Smile (I'll be away from home tomorrow).

Also you can use 100 watt MV ballast to test the 175 watt lamp with no problems...really.....

Even testing 400 watt is possible on 100 watt ballast but will be dim....just make sure for both above to use only HX ballast, not CWA....

@ Jace; i can use my OV-10 to test the 175W lamp and my M-400 to test the 400W lamp, i just have to get around to dig 'em out of the corner where i keep my lights. The M-250A is going right up on my new pole in the backyard once the paint drys. I unfortunatly ran out of paint though so i'll have to find out where i can get Krylon Dove Gray paint. Joe's right: dove gray really is the closest thing you can get to the factory NEMA gray powdercoat. Cool

@ Vince; thanks!

@ Joe; lol. Laughing
