What the.....
For the first time In this city I am seeing long tear drops on concrete poles! I dont know whether I like this yet or not. I cannot confirm or deny that these might be LED. The OVFs are HPS. The area around here also is mostly teardrops as well

Its interesting how its OVXs and AE 125s behind this photo by the end. Then suddenly these from a residential road to a certain point then it all just becomes OVFs. I am very confused! Where is this! What is happening!
Model25FanForever   [Oct 02, 2015 at 01:18 AM]
Queen Street! Between Mississauga road and Chinguacousy

They are widening it and adding 2 or 3 Zum stops for the 501 WB after the downtown terminal
m@   [Oct 02, 2015 at 03:52 AM]
Ah! The last fishhead is a gonner too! I also see some nice mature trees across the fishead, and new powerlines with the tear drops go behind the trees, I don't like seeing trees clearcut for road widening.

I think these teardrops, and mostly on these long arms look like something out of the 1800's steampunk aesthetic movement. One of the coolest heritage styles if you ask me, abiet dated.

Oh, and if the OVF's are HPS, then there's no chance the tear drops are LED. They haven't even been able to put a powerful enough LED set inside for a 250W HPS equivalent yet. and these high ones are 400W equivalents.
Model25FanForever   [Oct 03, 2015 at 04:17 AM]
Yeah it pisses me off too, we have a huge tree decline here thanks to the Ice storm, EAB, Stressed trees, general tree removal, and suburbs. That little area is nice but its gonna be too busy soon and ugly.

Yeah likely HPS then for sure. I saw tonight the Richvale LED on the NE corner is out too lol.
Silverliner14B   [Oct 11, 2015 at 10:47 AM]
I'm surprised they are HPS, but around here I still see new installations of legacy light sources also, even incandescent and metal halide.
Model25FanForever   [Oct 11, 2015 at 01:55 PM]
Yeah I was hoping they would be LED. Even MH would be alright IMO. I dont like the yellow glow at night too much. Too much light pollution Rolling Eyes

Remember when I was pointing out how I'd like to see more NVN's on decorative arms? Just realized this a good example where I'd rather see big NVN's Idea Agree with me on this one now? lol
Model25FanForever   [Oct 13, 2015 at 02:18 AM]
Im in 100% agreement here with that one buddy lol. I would rather see something like you posted up on North Creditview rd by Wanless

I just noticed that infamous linesman's trademark of "the new droopy AE115 spot replacement" is photobombing on the left Laughing

OH, and this region now has streetview updates for June 2016!
streetlight98   [Jul 20, 2016 at 01:14 PM]
Oh they're drooping the 115s now? Normally with the step-leveling slipfitter, the lineman jam the light onto the furthest block into the light, which makes the light tilt way up like a flood light lol.
Model25FanForever   [Sep 24, 2016 at 02:47 PM]
Ive seen a bunch of new AE 115s over the last month or so. They arent drooping, its the opposite now. Laughing
m@   [May 12, 2018 at 04:06 AM]
Now that these regional roads are slated for LED changeover, let's see them try to find these repro's in 400W LED equivalent! Probably least threatened fixtures lol
joe_347V   [May 12, 2018 at 05:23 AM]
When Markham converted to LED the streets with the coach lantern style fixtures remained HPS so I wonder if the repros will be LED'd. They do make these repros in LED so it might be a possibility.

If they decide to LED these, I really hope they won't cheap out and install shovels or 4000K LEDs, 3000K LED repro teardrops with real drop lenses are made and won't dramatically alter the appearance of the street. Plus you could pretend they're classic incandescents j/k. Rolling Eyes Laughing
m@   [May 12, 2018 at 05:35 AM]
I have only seen this teardrop repro as LED max 150W equivalent, and these suckers are 400W Laughing These were installed in 2015, so be a waste (like many of our cobras).

Unfortunately for you guys it looks like these arms are begging for black LED NVN or Autobahns to me Laughing
joe_347V   [May 12, 2018 at 05:48 AM]
Yeah, I wasn't able to find a 400w equivalent repro teardrop. Holophane makes a 250w equivalent repro teardrop though.

Well, black is still better than using grey lights on these. Razz Laughing
NiMo   [May 12, 2018 at 11:29 AM]
Those are LED models. They have a "stippled" plastic refractor that is nearly transparent.
Model25FanForever   [May 12, 2018 at 11:32 AM]
Yeah I think the arms would scream for Black NVN's like this. Laughing
xmaslightguy   [May 12, 2018 at 04:36 PM]
I like these .. but the black doesn't fit in with those poles
