A little help here!
As a result of the Ice storm a few weeks ago this Shoebox was hit by a huge branch or a tree limb that fell from the storm causing the lens to fall out and the entire fixture to be upside down. The pieces of the lens are scattered under the snow and Ice. A new shoe box will likely replace this one.

BTW, what was the fate of this light? Is it still like this?
Model25FanForever   [Apr 27, 2014 at 02:13 PM]
There hasn't been a fate yet. Its still crooked like it was a week after I took this, the lens disappeared and birds have decided to nest there Laughing
There is also yellow caution tape between the tree pole and fence

A week later? But it's over three months now. Razz Do you know if it still lights up? Laughing Shocked
Model25FanForever   [Apr 27, 2014 at 02:48 PM]
It actually still does and it became more crooked the week after because someone must have thrown a block of ice at it or something Laughing Mad
Model25FanForever   [Apr 27, 2014 at 03:02 PM]
It actually still does Laughing

Wow. At least here they would have disconnected the light or better yet, removed it and placed a trash bag over the top of the pole and ziptied it in place.

Just take the PC out. Razz Laughing

Model25FanForever   [Sep 24, 2016 at 02:52 PM]

Is it still working? Shocked

This reminds me of a walkway light in my neighbourhood that's been broken for the last 10 or more years. Rolling Eyes
Model25FanForever   [Sep 26, 2016 at 11:04 PM]
Nope not yet still LOL
streetlight98   [Sep 28, 2016 at 02:02 AM]
does the lamp still light though?
Model25FanForever   [Sep 29, 2016 at 05:57 PM]
Its not even there. I should have updated the photo taken shortly after when they removed the shoebox. It still is a shoeboxless light lol
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2016 at 11:25 PM]
Well the shoebox is the light, so it's a lightless pole then? NGrid does that here (with lights on wood poles). If the arm is damaged they'll remove the arm and light off the pole and then not put anything in its place for a few weeks or even a couple months. Sometimes I've had to report the light missing before they'd come out and install the replacement.

The pole with the OVZ and flood was struck down by a car.

The pole broke into three pieces. The pole broke at the ground and just above the OVZ. Prior to the pole being hit, the flood was replaced with a new Cooper one higher up on the pole and the OVZ got a replacement GE glass refractor.

The new Cooper flood light has survived the crash but the OVZ was destroyed. the tapered arm looked OK but they never installed a new light on that arm. All that's on the new pole now is the Cooper flood.

It took 4 years for a new light to be installed. There is now a Phillips LED fixture installed.
Mike   [Nov 23, 2018 at 12:40 AM]
Wow about time lol. The OVZ in my last comment above never ended up having a replacement light installed on the new poles either. Still just the flood light. And now Cranston owns their own lights so there never will be a replacement, as they likely have no idea there ever was one there since it was gone under the electric company's watch.
Model25FanForever   [Nov 25, 2018 at 12:40 PM]
I just went by this at night and it practically lights up the road too, I want to see what the wattage of that fixture is.

Yeah I could see why there might not be a replacement. Was it previously RIDOT owned?

@Model25Fan: I noticed the other day the Phillips LED heads say either "50 LED" or "54 LED". I find the 54's way too bright for pathways.
Model25FanForever   [Dec 02, 2018 at 03:49 AM]
Interesting, doesn't seem like a big difference in the two outputs, but maybe that difference between 50w and 54w brightness to our eyes is affected by the LED's colour temperature or just glare from the path? Confused
m@   [Dec 03, 2018 at 02:04 AM]
Or maybe it's just in my head and phillips released the "50"W as a more efficient version? Laughing
