Truss lighting used by MTO to light all the freeways until around the early 90's. Since the early 90's they have been disappearing at a extreme rate. Only some are still left and those last ones are going to be removed later or some get put onto tapered e arms
The good thing is, if they replace everything with LEDs, those LPS crosswalk lights regain their purpose of standing out from the white-glow street lights, so they'll do what they were originally designed to do.

Today I saw LED's installed on the same road you did (Derry Rd.) but over the 410 overpass, offramp signals too! It looks like all streetlights on MTO overpasses are city jurisdiction. It's odd as they only limited their efforts mainly to the 410 and 427 overpass stretches. I also notice the fixtures that replace 250W and 400W look exactly the same with same amount of LED panels.
They have not limited LED retrofits on Derry Rd to overpasses! They are steadily replacing HPS moving west of highway 410. All of Derry's tall dual arm median poles are likely to be LED by end of December . I think they look alright (it's the fixture with most panels). Hurt my eyes looking at night though.
The median double arms are LED to just west of the 427. The LED's over the 410 seem to just be the 410 so far. I guess its still HPS between the 410 ramps to Airport road or Goreway?
Nope, they've rapidly retrofitted LED from 410 all the way to Hurontario, like I said at this rate, should be all of Derry soon. Still HPS otherwise currently.
I didn't see the west part really today, I looked on the east side. I drove by and saw the LED's. I also noticed the 410 by the 401 now has jersey barriers out for the new HOV lanes on the 410. Only time until they do from the 410 east to whatever HPS is left before the 427.
Looks like the Derry road LEDs are the highest output 275W model. Of course all on this stretch, say a few hundred, currently suffer the original "offline mode" always-on syndrome. Talk about dayburning.
Interesting, I think this might be one of the first examples of LED streetlights being installed on to a MTO overpass. I recall the overpasses stayed HPS for a while now. Heck, I think the MTO installed new HPS lights on the Hurontario/401 and the Eglinton/403 overpasses during construction.
I sure have not previously seen LED's on MTO overpasses before either. City crossroad assumes the lights though. The new HPS local road to the carpool lot at Hurontario/401 was just refixtured with LED last week. Some construction contractors in Mississauga still put up HPS, especially on traffic signals, they will be refixtured by the city though.
Derry road Mississauga is about 90% or more LED now. The only sections with HPS still are at Goreway drive because of construction. Some of the little shoebox's by the airport. and the odd pair of median lights that have signals. Airport Road between the 427 and American Drive are now all LED. The rest of Airport road appears to be HPS still.

I think they left it because its lighting the on ramp for the highway 427 and that the highway lights are still all HPS

I wonder how long it will be until the Brampton overpasses become LED as well.
