Looks pretty good!

thanks! the inside is pretty dirty. I plan to repaint this and the one going to Darren if he wants.

Might want to consider repainting the housing.

yep i plan to paint both fixtures in summer 2014. the paint is powdery and wears off in your hands.

There's a way to pop off the PE Receptacle. If you can get a nail skinny enough to slip under the spring, then you can work it free.

that's not a photocell receptacle. It's just a snap-in black cover to fill in the hole. Both lights have that. These must have been one of the last A2s made since they're from 1997 (03-1997 was the date).

I'd like to get a photocell receptacle for the M-400A2 that I'm keeping though. I'd install it after the restoration.

I might paint the ballast core too (not the coils though) as the replacement 320W PSMH Venture ballasts are rusting and so are the capacitors. originally these were both 400W HPS wired at 277V single tap so in a way i'm glad the ballasts were replaced (as these are multitap so i can run them) but i wish the electrician had kept the powr/module plugs. Right now every time i remove the door i have to undo four wirenuts then remember how to reconnect them when i put the door back on lol.

Since GE and PowerLite lumes are very similarly design, I wonder if this will fit the M-400A2. It's basically the same one that my B2255 has.

Starting in (i think) the mid 80s, the GEs all had tool free PC sockekets with a heay spring inside. there are four little bubbles on to the top and the PC receptacle sink into those bumps. My M-400's PC socket (the same one as my R1 and M-250A's) doesn't fit. its the style with the two screws and the big metal washer liek you said.

Ahh, I thought the tool free PC holes still took a traditional screw in PC socket.
streetlight98   [Aug 31, 2013 at 01:05 AM]
i thought so too but it's a smaller hole with no screw holes.

Looks like you really need a GE PC socket then, I'm not sure where to get one aside from ordering one from GE renewal parts.
streetlight98   [Aug 31, 2013 at 01:25 PM]
yeah. Does anyone here have a tool-free GE PC socket that they are willing to ship to me for a reasonable price?
joe_347V   [Aug 31, 2013 at 10:53 PM]
Hmm, I guess Darren might have one but you might want to post a wanted request in the forum since the picture comments get pushed back really quickly .
streetlight98   [Aug 31, 2013 at 11:02 PM]
he might... if he does he'll probably want to add it to the A2 going to him. This will be his first PSMH fixture. It's my first PSMH cobrahead but my second PSMH light, as my deck light is 70W PSMH. i didn't realize the larger wattage PSMH lamps didn't have oval arc tubes. these philips lamps have arc tubes like standard Mh lamp.
