Broken Lens R37 [Gone]
This poor R37's lens broke a while back during tree removal. One of the tree removal workers in the bucket knocked a branch/limb into it. For mike, and joe_347v. This is the R37 that I believe may have been a merc back around 2008. Its a catwalk/path light. For the first time in years this light cycles at night.

Hmm could they have installed this light used as a replacement for a merc? This looks like it was always HPS. So this is the hidden path light? I thought this light was totally out. It works but cycles now? I find that with the freeway lights here. Often the fuse blows in the manhole cover next to the pole so the light is out and when they fix it five or ten years later the light turns out to be a cycling dayburner. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Ah so this is that R37 Razz . Anyway, if you can get a closer look at the silver tag, you can tell whether or not it was retrofitted from merc.

I see it's got the green 15 NEMA tag, though it could have been added.

I couldn't get a clear view of the label with my own eyes nor the camera zoom function. Il have to tech up my camera for a clear view. This other camera has very good zoom focus

I'd like to point out a lot of these have rust stains running down the outsside near the slip fitter, looks like the unique external mount tighening bolt above rusts out. Can be seen here too! Seen some of these drooping on their arms, wonder if it's due to mount failure.

Those external fitters aren't unique, GE used them too. In fact, the B2255 has a lot of the same or similar looking parts as the M-400A!

Yeah the bolts rust somewhat on the 1970s GEs that use external bolts. But it's just surface rust. The Crouse-Hinds L-150 and L-250 lights had exposed bolts, but on the bottom, and they rusted badly to the point where they usually can't come off the arm so the arm generally has to be replaced when this happens. It's not uncommon to have this happen with OV-15s and OV-25s too since Westinghouse must have used untreated steel threaded rods and nuts. GE used galvanized bolts but with those, using a wrench to tighten them chips off the zinc coating so the bolts on the 70s GEs with exposed bolts will start to rust on top because the zinc coating is gone. Sad

UPDATE: This got replaced by a veery shiny AE 115. Hence because the big trees around it are dead looking as dead trees get. Cut down to totempoles so the light is really exposed now
