Now using FCO 115 spot replacements?
I noticed in a subdivision that recently got upgraded to FCO OVH's got its first spot replacement. Yes it had a flat glass lens. It was a FCO AE 115. There was a second one down the road but a month ago this was an FCO OVH. They may have used FCO because using a drop lens would be inconsistent with the other FCO's

Fellow Bramptonion, I know of one FCO 115, and it's not this one as the one I saw is 250W - Hillcrest Ave! The one I saw was installed fresh on a new pole right after the street was outfitted with OVF's on one side and OVH's on the other (don't ask...save that for another picture). So my theory is it is actually the same contractor coming back to correct deficiencies of their project. The street I saw was 70-150 cooper FCO's, and the random 250W FCO 115 was added in front of a plaza entrance, likely for more light there.

Question for the forum: how is the warranty handled on new installs, and when the labour warranty ends, does the city just put a claim in for a credit on a defective warranted fixture?

Sad that the OVHs are alreasy failing after being installed "recently". A recent neighborhood was added off of mine in 2007 with underground wiring and 50W HPS M-250R2s There are eight lights and seven years later they all still have their original lamps and photocells! One is cycling but since NGrid never put pole numbers on the lightpoles I can't report it... But the other seven are all working seven years later with their original lamps. The PCs are Brown, i think Fisher Pierce, and turn on early and off late. so those extra burning hours and still going! I'm surprised to be honest that they all have original lamps seven years later. I guess maybe they used full mercury lamps. At that point they were still using GE lamps. Now they use Sylvania lamps according to the color (yellower than other HPS lamps) though i havn't seen a new fixture with a missing door to see if the lamp is ET instead of ED...

Not sure about you guys since the lights aren't utility owned there but here NGrid doesn't take up any warranties on lights. I'm sure on more expensive stuff like transformers and distribution equippment they do but if a street light is a dud it gets tossed in the dumpter no matter what if it doesn't light with a new lamp and PC. If a light is missing a door or lens and they have a door or lens on the truck that fits they'll fix it but if they don't have parts that fit it they'll replace it. Though I've seen a 113 get a M-250R2 door taped onto it lol. It lasted a couple months before the whole light and arm were mysteriously removed and never replaced.

Yeah, over here Markham was using these as spot replacements on residential streets right up to the LED changeout. Think they all got scrapped during the changeout. And to think some of them were probably only a year old as most. Rolling Eyes

Not sure about the procedure for defective lights, but I think the contractor handles it and slaps up whatever fixture they happen to have on the truck as a replacement as I've seen AELs spot replacing newly installed Coopers and vice versa.

Here they install whatever they have on the truck but it's usually a GE unless it's a floodlight or a 250W HPS cobrahead. On wood poles mixing and matching doesn't bother me and with older metal pole installations it doesn't bother me too much but with residential subdivisions with metal poles and stuff it annoys me seeing mixed fixtures, especially FCO and drop lens mixed and matched.
