I see you got the one without the motion detector. Laughing Razz
gailgrove   [Aug 01, 2011 at 07:59 PM]
Oh of course, really though motion detectors drive me crazy. Razz This was actually made by me from the "mix and match" bins where they have a bunch of different par flood components to make whatever type you want.

I hate those motion detector lights. When you don't want light, shut the dumb thing off. Fact: light doesn't scare criminals away, they just hide. I've been asking my dad to get rid of the motion dector PARs for a while but he says "if it ain't broke, I ain't gonna fix it"

Your dad says if it ain't broke, I ain't gonna fix it...I think maybe you should break it somehow.... Laughing

That's what I was going to say Laughing One of my neighbours down the street installed a motion detector light a few months ago, it flashes on and off all day - even when a car drives by on the road Rolling Eyes

I have a couple of old ones lying around somewhere, and plus they don't really work that well the sensors tend to malfunction and either flash on and off or never come on for some reason.

Don't just love it when you see then turn on when you walk across the sidewalk or drive down the road? Rolling Eyes

It's like 20 feet off the ground and besides, I'm not going to vanalize my own property. Shocked My dad has two 40w PARs in the light and the light stays on for 10 seconds after the motion stops. The 70w PMH on the deck outshines the PARS so it's useless to even turn it on. I want to put up a 100 or 70w PMH floodlight up, but I need to acquire one first. I'll probably use some Christmas money to buy one. Only 4 months 'til December. Razz

Just 40 watt lamps Shocked These are 90 watt halogen floods, they light up our fairly small backyard pretty well.
streetlight98   [Aug 01, 2011 at 08:44 PM]
I think they're standard incandescent too. I have a medium size back yard. i'd say 40-50 feet in length and 25-30 feet in width.
gailgrove   [Aug 01, 2011 at 08:48 PM]
Ours is about 20 feet in length and 35 feet wide, those 40 watts PARs must do practically nothing.
joe_347V   [Aug 01, 2011 at 08:50 PM]
Mine is around 25-30' wide and 75-80' long, I need a light pole in the far end to light it up properly. Laughing

We don't have lights on the sides of the house nor do we have windows on the sides of my house. The city requires an extra permit to have windows on the sides of the house do to privacy. Rolling Eyes The houses in my neighboorhood aren't even that close. Maybe I will get a few rocks. Laughing Joe, see if you can mount your B2255 in your yard. Cool I've been asking to mount a light in yard for awhile. My deck is being expanded soon, so my parents said maybe after the deck is done, I can mount a light off the deck to light the yard.
joe_347V   [Aug 01, 2011 at 09:08 PM]
Nah don't really need that much light, and I have to find a good pole for the B2255, they're quite heavy!
streetlight98   [Aug 01, 2011 at 09:12 PM]
see if a hardware store has any tall fence posts (like 10-12 ft). Then buy a top for it and drill holes for something like a yardblaster arm. A real arm would be better, but I'm just talking about things that are cheaper and can be easilly purchased
joe_347V   [Aug 01, 2011 at 09:14 PM]
Don't really need it although since you are so insistent on it come up to Ontario and dig the 2' deep and 80 foot long wire trench for me. Laughing
streetlight98   [Aug 01, 2011 at 11:17 PM]
I never said you HAD to, just giving you advise if you ever do. Razz
joe_347V   [Aug 02, 2011 at 02:40 AM]
Laughing You sounded so insistent on it even after I said I didn't want to the first time. Razz
gailgrove   [Aug 02, 2011 at 12:50 PM]
I'd like to mount on of my cobras outside, but I think I'd run the wire overhead, I don't feel like digging a trench. Laughing
streetlight98   [Aug 02, 2011 at 04:21 PM]
@ Joe; sorry. And BTW, I am coming up to Ontario for vacation. Razz
@ Niall; I probably would too exept for the fact that it doesn't look as good and when ice sticks to the wire, it could snap. Or worse yet, the pole could snap or fall if it's too cheasy or not put in right.

I have those inground sprinklers for the yard (irigation system) for the yard, so it would be a pain in the butt diggin' a trench. and my dad will just have a heart attack if I dig up the grass. Surprised Anyways, like I had said, I'll probably mount my light off the deck so i don't have to dig at all. Smile Laughing
