I didn't actually see that, I also noticed a three way arm just down the road! I wish I lived on that street!

Yeah, lots of older Powerlites, Silverliners and even Unistyles on that street, wouldn't mind living there myself too.

Those insulators look big, I wonder why they used those?

Becuase it's a high voltage. From what I see Niall's and Joe's areas use higher voltages on their high voltage wires than the US. A real challenge would be to find a B2213, B2215, or B2217 with a PC receptacle. I don't think any of them in any photos we see had them. Neutral

They don't look THAT high, because it looks like a simple transformer turning it into a voltage that works for the streetlight.

Maybe they just wanted to be safe then..... I don't know much about transmittion. I'm more into the wiring of lighting not really wiring in general.

This isn't my area, neither was that other shot with the small Wide-Lites. The standard here is 14 kV.

I've only come across one B2217 with a PC socket in it.
