I Want These Two!
And hope to get them, they will be coming down soon with the highway construction going on, I have talked to the contractor so hopefully I will get them plus a arm for myself and Joseph. Note the condition of the pole too!

My Favourite!

MMM! MTO Truss Arm

I have a ton of pictures of the area nearby Very Happy

Thanks, I can't believe how slow they are at this project, we first posted pictures of the new highmasts almost a year ago and they still aren't running (though two have lost their reflectors and one is crooked Rolling Eyes )

I noticed that MTO tends to leave the old truss lights for quite a while after they install highmast, the ones on the 427 were only fully removed in early '09 even though the highmast went up in '05.

I'm guessing for this stretch they're going to build the collector lanes first, close the old express lanes and then take these down during reconstruction.
gailgrove   [Jun 11, 2011 at 06:14 PM]
Yeah I think that's what they'll do as well, hopefully soon!
streetlight98   [Jun 11, 2011 at 09:01 PM]
Wow, tall poles. What does MTO mean?
gailgrove   [Jun 11, 2011 at 09:50 PM]
Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, the equivalent of the Rhode Island DOT Wink Yes the poles are tall, I think about 40-50 feet I would guess 45 Smile
joe_347V   [Jun 12, 2011 at 12:24 AM]
40-50 feet should be around right, they're taller than most municipal poles here with the exception of some of the poles in Mississauga and Brampton.
gailgrove   [Jun 12, 2011 at 02:11 AM]
Yeah we have some 50 foot poles here they can be a bit extreme for just a 400 watt fixture, I think they would be better with 1KW fixtures.
streetlight98   [Jun 12, 2011 at 01:29 PM]
If they put a 1000 watt lume on a 50 foot pole they better put vibration dampers.
GullWhiz   [Jun 12, 2011 at 02:17 PM]
Well....think of this...highmasts usually have 1000 watt fixtures....my area has some MH ballasted fixtures and some have 4 fixtures while others have 6 fixtures and are on roughly 65 foot tall poles.....no vibration dampers as far as I know!
gailgrove   [Jun 12, 2011 at 03:41 PM]
Well concrete poles don't really need vibration dampers, here all metal poles 30 feet + have vibration dampers, don't forget Jace they are often inside the poles Wink

I was going by these and it looks like they're going to remove them soon,
I saw a bucket truck with some linemen going up along with a ground crew disconnecting them.
gailgrove   [Dec 13, 2011 at 07:13 PM]
Good! They seem to be taking all of the lights to their temporary storage/work yard, I am giving them a phone call tomorrow so I can hopefully go down there and get some lights soon!

I've posted a couple of pics from today.
Antstar85   [Dec 13, 2011 at 10:46 PM]
That will be a sweet find if you get these.
gailgrove   [Dec 13, 2011 at 10:54 PM]
Yeah, for GEs so far I only have 4 M250R2s which aren't really that "exciting".
joe_347V   [Dec 13, 2011 at 10:56 PM]
Try to save that M-400R2. Cool
gailgrove   [Dec 13, 2011 at 11:02 PM]
Yep, I want one for sure, I also want a M400A3 and maybe a few of other lights I decide to pick out, I find anytime I get access to a pile of lights I end up filling the car. Laughing Razz
