700w MV Shocked The lamps and ballast for those haven't been made in years. Nice!

Yeah i know! You're very lucky to have one! @ Joe; joe Maurath told me that a 1000W MV ballast can be rewired with a different value cap and run 700W MV lamps. Smile As a matter of fact, GE actually used the same ballast for 700 and 1000W mercs, but with a different capacitor rating. So if you're lucky to come accross a 1000W MV M-1000 that works on 120V, you could run 700W lamps if you change the cap.

Interesting, if I ever come across a 700w lamp I wonder if I can use a different cap on my Advance 1kW ballast and run it safely.

I'm not sure. He said it works with GE ballasts. (I'm not sure if only GE's from the time of Ian's M-1000's, since that's why Joe told me, or for all GE 1KW MV ballasts up to today...)

Ahh I see, I know that changing the cap on any CWA ballast will change the output current though. Advance used to have a table and diagram on how to rewire CWA ballasts for bilevel operation.

I would not try that 1000w should just stay as 1000w Surprised Confused
