Streetlight Design Under Powerlines
|
Here is one of the best light distribution designs for having to mount lights lower under high voltage lines over the road (pole spacing, arm length, 3 pole heights depending on interference distance from lines above, symmetrical on each side of the road). The contractor didn't implement it with consistent parts, note how one side of the road has some different luminaires and aluminum arms with different bends.

@Mike: thanks for the great update on what lumes are using as reflectors, learn somethin new every day!
Markham was still mostly drop lens until 2009.
I will say it was a fun discovery. I was biking by a new residential development, and observed an example of how FCO is used for new cobrahead installs. The messed up thing was for the first time ever I was baffled to see large fixtures in a low level residential area (OVF's)!!! I figured something had to be up, so I looked under them and there were LED light bars where I expected a reflector! I even noticed some had more LED's in them. Interesting how they didn't use OVH's, I have a theory why though, and it has to do with brightness and fixture consistency.
