Doesn't that make the slipfitter Cooper? Because Cooper was the main manufacturer while Crouse-Hinds was just the brand. About the time that was made.. But I may be wrong since this is traffic signals instead of Street lights.
Crouse Hinds still exists at its original plant in Syracuse. They are the manufacturer. When Cooper Industries bought it in the 80's they sold off the traffic products division to TCT which was swallowed up by Peek. The original molds for the Type T, Type D, Type DT, Type H, Type K, and Type M were destroyed. Type R was sold to TCT. The molds for Crouse Hind's traffic controller cabinets were sold to an offshoot casting manufacturer.
This won't be converted to LED anytime soon, Lakewood isn't replacing the 8 inch incandescents with LED's yet. But no matter what 12 inch dominates the streets.
Around here before the LED trend became wide-spread, they'd only change out the green and red to LED and the yellow was still incandescent. Now all of the signals except in Central Falls and parts of Providence are all LED.
There's still a ton of signals in Toronto like that, I believe they only completed their retrofit in 2010 or so. Also a lot of beacons in Toronto are still incandescent too.
I believe Vaughan here still has some fully incandescent intersections left.
I know some signals (or knew that now they are all converted to LED) that had incandescent greens and yellows and LED (pixellated) Reds. I wonder why they changed out just the reds and not the others before. And I think that happened before the incandescent appearance LED modules happened as it looked like it was a GE pixelated module.
I guess it's because the reds are on most of the time in that intersection, or in the case of here the reds drew the most power because they were the only 12" light on a head.
I will be getting a signal just like this one from a different intersection, Maybe tomorrow, if not tomorrow then friday. It will all be incandescent and the guy in charge said I could already have it. It is still up right now but it will be taken down tomorrow and hopefully I catch them and I will be able to keep it.
