Woah!!!!
This signal JUST got put up like a few months ago and one traffic signal ALREADY got loose?

This looks dangerous, and it's haning low enough to where I can touch it. (But I have to jump though)

As you also see the light is still connected so the red LED diode is lit up.

Maybe if this falls I could take it. xD More modules in my collection!

These signal heads are Chapel Hill (CH) as the CH's are on the back, like the blinker light I had, same model too.

But someone needs to fix it before it falls on someone's head!

Did you report it? If not you should!
streetlight98   [Jan 03, 2012 at 01:53 AM]
I'm glad it still works. Razz You should report this though if you can. Shocked
rlshieldjr   [Jan 03, 2012 at 04:48 AM]
Probably a large truck hit it rubbing it, and then he backed up turning it and pulling it from the bands. This is a typical problem for us. Thi also appears to be a traffic hazard as the light is facing the cross traffic, and could confuse drivers seeing a green when it should be red. The police could open the police panel on the cabinet and put it on Flash, to prevent confusion.

Actually this is on a freeway interchange, so the light is facing AWAY from traffic, since it's one way. So it won't confuse people since people don't face directly to the light when driving, if they do they would be going the wrong way on the freeway! If you do notice there is no traffic signal in the background facing that direction so people won't get confused, the light isn't facing any traffic.

But it still needs to be fixed, it might fall.

The good thing this is close to an Xcel energy yard and facility, (like a couple blocks down, this is Wadsworth and 285 and the Xcel energy facitily is on Kipling and 285)

But I am not sure if Xcel would take care of this, WL contractors set this up.
gailgrove   [Jan 03, 2012 at 03:14 PM]
I doubt they will do anything about it.
Antstar85   [Jan 03, 2012 at 07:53 PM]
utility companies usually are not responsible for traffic signals. thats usually either the DOT or municipality.
LilCinnamon   [Jan 04, 2012 at 01:08 PM]
I guess when this falls and I catch it on the ground this would be my signal. 8D

By the way the streetlights in the background are OVF's, brand new. They are dayburning though, all of them.
gailgrove   [Jan 04, 2012 at 01:38 PM]
Ian, that is a pretty bad attitude to take, first you should report this so no one gets hurt if it does fall, second they inspect signals very frequently, as soon as they they find this it will be repaired. And finally, who says this will fall? Mad
LilCinnamon   [Jan 04, 2012 at 02:11 PM]
I was joking, hence the "8D" I joke about things like that.

The problem is I don't know who to report this to.
gailgrove   [Jan 04, 2012 at 02:15 PM]
Well who owns the signals? Is is state owned or does the city own it, or just give me the streetview link of where this is and I'm sure I can figure it out.
LilCinnamon   [Jan 04, 2012 at 02:47 PM]
I am pretty sure the city owns it because WL contractors was the contractor that worked on this. (and the whole 285 thing)

But I dunno if it would be the CITY, it might of been the state that paid WL contractors to work on this. The state is CDOT, there is actually a facility close by too.

Maybe I should contact CDOT...
gailgrove   [Jan 04, 2012 at 02:50 PM]
Your area should have a 311 number you can call, phone that and they should tell you who owns them, then you can report it to them.
streetlight98   [Jan 04, 2012 at 08:27 PM]
All the signals here are owned and maintained by the state so I'd guess other signals in other states are as well, but I can't be sure.
gailgrove   [Jan 04, 2012 at 08:31 PM]
I don't think so, it is pretty common for city's to own signals, here almost all signals are city owned. If it is near a freeway interchange then it is likely state owned. Calling 311 will confirm who owns it anyways. Wink
streetlight98   [Jan 04, 2012 at 08:41 PM]
The ones here look extremely similar in any given city/town around here. also, your signals may be city-owned becuase Ontario is way too large to mantain every signal withen its borders. RI is only about 1,214 square miles vs Ontario which is about 415,600 square miles. Shocked
gailgrove   [Jan 04, 2012 at 08:53 PM]
Most of Ontario is uninhabited though, it still is huge though, larger than any state other than Alaska. Really just Southern Ontario has people living in it. Which isn't that big.
Edit: I found this, it looks like the town most likely does own the signals.
LilCinnamon   [Jan 04, 2012 at 09:38 PM]
Well I drove by this again today and it looks like they fixed it! It was back up on it's arm and the same signal too.

So I don't need to report this now. xD
gailgrove   [Jan 04, 2012 at 09:59 PM]
That's good! They do inspect these frequently.
joe_347V   [Jan 04, 2012 at 11:35 PM]
Yeah they do, that dangling R37 was removed the next day.
LilCinnamon   [Feb 06, 2012 at 12:50 PM]
The intersection this is on (The signal is fixed now Like I said) has some new LED streetlights! They had some OVH's on it but then I drove past it yesterday and the Streetlights were LED! I need to get a picture of them. They are small black LED lights. I wonder why they put the LED's there...
