This OVZ looks pretty old. It has the ceramic Terminal block instead of the Plastic one.

The first Cooper Crouse-Hinds OVZ's have a better look, they remind me more of an M-250 R2.. As the early Cooper OVZ's didn't have that bend in the door, and has a similar shape as the M-250 R2. But of course this is the Cooper OVZ.

Did the first Cooper OVZ's have the hinge flaw?

This actually looks to be an OVC. It looks the same as the one that had the snake.

OVCs are in Canada
GullWhiz   [Nov 28, 2011 at 02:26 AM]
David F. my friend works in an electrical company in here in Maryland which is in the USA....and he was fixing the fixture and he saw the label said OVC.... see the picture can be found here and this fixture is just about 20 min from my house...and last time I checked...I live in the USA...

WHAT DOES THAT PROVE David F?
tpirman1982   [Nov 28, 2011 at 02:32 AM]
I dunno. That's what I've heard.
GullWhiz   [Nov 28, 2011 at 02:33 AM]
That's what we THOUGHT before.......but the label in the fixture says OVC....it may have been early fixtures in the USA....and Michael (streetlights98) knows someone who did some jobs relating with streetlights and remembered something...

Hmm... I guess I gotta get my information straight.
streetlight98   [Nov 28, 2011 at 02:37 AM]
Yep. My uncle's friend is an electrian. His mother was a linewoman and installed a lot of this type of fixture and OVS in Attleboro mass. I asked about any spec sheets. She did save a few, but they can't be found. Sad

Yeah we all sometimes get things wrong...and we think it's right....but we learn something new and it could be either.......

So instead of being stuck in what you learned before...you can always look more and consider that sometimes we didn't know something before and learned something...

don't you remember you used to call some of those fixtures the "OVZ-Mini" but we found out there was no such a thing....maybe the so called "OVZ Mini" are actually the OVC?

Yeah like how a lot of us thought this was a Powerlite fixture until Dave cleared it up.
Antstar85   [Nov 28, 2011 at 02:48 AM]
@ jace, that picture of the snake light gives some good proof about the OVC in the USA. I never noticed untill it was pointed out.

Ok OVC then, lol. The idea they got the OVZ name was simple from someone who talked with someone from Cooper and it was just a broad definition.
LilCinnamon   [Nov 29, 2011 at 02:06 AM]
My original question didn't get answered. Did these have the hinge flaw like the new OVZs?
tpirman1982   [Nov 29, 2011 at 02:21 AM]
Not that I can see.
GullWhiz   [Nov 29, 2011 at 02:23 AM]
