wow. I didn't even know they made 40w MV lmaps. Did they even make ballasts for these?

I believe they did but I've seen others run them on LPF F40 preheat ballasts before. Shocked

A 35 W MH ballast without ignitor will work. A 40 W fluorescent ballast would underdrive it.

Yep they made 40w ballasts they went by the ANSI code "H45".

Weird lamp. I never heard of a 40 watt MV though. But it sure would be brighter than a 40 watt Incandescent. But not by too much.

What were these lamps used for anyway?

Where I work, there are bunch of 40/50 Watts MV bulbs by the walking area. I have seen them light up, some don't work and some do. Also, MARTA rail still use those 40/50 Watts MV in some intervals for the live rail lines slowing replacing with 70 Watts MH. I can't image how long will the MH last at the live rail lines Razz
