Looks a lot like the Lithonia wraparound in my bedroom; Home Depot (at least in my area) stocks replacement refractors that should fit these just fine.

Did you get any fleas at the flea market?

Yeah i thought it could have been a lithonia...the Worn out Stamp on another Similar Fixture looked like lithonia...is it lithonia or lithoria?...i get it confused...and no Alain...i didnt Get any Fleas! Laughing

Judging from the side clips similar to Lithonia wraps, its entirely possible that a curved basket Lithonia diffuser might fit on this. However, I don't think it's a lithonia because the end caps appear to have a pointed bottom instead of a curved one as would be on the curved basket model. Lithonia did have a wrap with a pointed bottom diffuser known as the WA, which also has sides that slant downward. I don't remember seeing angled lampholders or a pointed bottom ballast channel cover in a Lithonia wrap before either, again with the WA being the exception for the ballast cover. The label in the other pic appeared to say something luminaires. Not sure what that could be. I did see a wrap in my old high school made by Holophane though that had a similar shape to the diffuser this wraparound probably had. Probably not the same one due to the different ballast cover, but I'll upload the pic shortly.

I know those fixtures, the fixture looks somewhat modern actually....but the ballast looks older which I find odd...

My old house garage actually had a similar fixture, which was sold mostly in the 90s and early 2000s..I think they were available in the 80s too.....seems they don't sell them anymore I think....

update: This Thing is now on my Ceeling....but i dont know if i should use the original ballast seeing as it has a Suspicious tar leak near where the wires exit the ballast on one side.

even though the ballast does opperate correctly...id rather not have the thing leak tar at all seeing how the ballast has PCB's (it is from 1973)

well its been up there for some time now actually...but its not Electrically connected to anything.

I would recommend that you take the original ballast out and use a newer ballast since it has a minor tar leak and has PCBs in it just to be safe.

You could still use the original ballast in the garage or the utility room but I would fuse it at 1A or so just as a extra precaution.

there's a Local Hardware store that sells HPF Robertson 2x40 Watt Fluorescent ballasts for 22 Bucks....i might pick up one....

I Could Find a way to mount my LPF Advance Ballast in there but since its much shorter i would have to drill an extra hole.

by the way....why are High Power Factor Ballast's always longer than the Low Power Factor ballasts?...is there a Big Cap in there or something?
joe_347V   [Sep 26, 2010 at 10:51 PM]
Yep there's a big cap in the HPF ones, even the 20w ones are as long as the 40w ones.

You could also try looking for ballasts at your local Habitat Restore too, since they usually sell them cheaply there or you could drill a new hole and mount the LPF ballast but most LPF F40 ballasts under run the lamps.

I blame /ES lamps for the tar leak. Razz Laughing

Sounds like what happened to my shoplight, although as I type it's original ballast is operating.
