Doesn't This Seem at Least the Least Bit Alarming?!
The Warwick Mall repalced their aluminum tapered E poles holding 250W ITT 13s with massive shoebox poles a while back and look what they did! They cut the old anchor bolts and just drilled the new ones into the existing base on a diagonal angle! O_O They had to run a few conduit lines too since apparently a few links failed during the March 2010 floods that made this whole lot up to 10ft underwater in the worst spots!

Ahh I keep all my lights indoors. Since I prefer to restore them, putting them outside would be counterintuitive, though I hope to get a light up outside eventually.

If your pole was strong enough would there still be that remote ballasted OV25 out there?
streetlight98   [Nov 03, 2012 at 11:55 PM]
Yeah. Sad it'd be up until the M-250A was totally complete, then the M-250A would go up. Cool I'm hoping at least the NEMA head Jace will eventually be sending me will be light enough for the cheap fence post to support. It really sucks when you go all out on somethign and it backfires on you. Mad Well, if the NEMA can't be safely supported by the set-up, I'll have to send the NEMA back to Jace or someone else since I have no room to hold onto it is it doesn't. Neutral

I think NEMA heads should be pretty light unless it has something like a glass refractor or a gumball assembly on it.
streetlight98   [Nov 04, 2012 at 02:05 PM]
Yeah about the weight of a 175W MV yardblaster right? I'm pretty sure that would be light enough... The bucket is polycarbonate.
joe_347V   [Nov 04, 2012 at 05:29 PM]
Well I guess if it's still too heavy you could always remote ballast it. Laughing
streetlight98   [Nov 04, 2012 at 06:33 PM]
Yeah I could. Laughing I may have to install the shorter arm though to reduce the swaying caused by the light catching the wind. My OV-25 was swinging back and fourth in a light breeze when it was up that day.

streetlight98   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:01 AM]
what do you mean?
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:19 AM]
Well to me it looks like they had no choice but to go diagonally because of the old anchor bolts being in the way. The old bolts were probably too rusty/stripped out to be re-used and may have not matched up anyway. So it almost seems legitimate, but I still think it's kinda ugly
streetlight98   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:25 AM]
Yes, but new bases should have been poured since it seems unsafe to be reusing the bases. Plus some of the bases are deteriorating anyways and looked unsafe even with the old poles.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:27 AM]
Yeah, it looks like the concrete base has seen better days...when were these originally installed?
BTW what do you think of my new profile pic? Are non-lighting-related profile pics allowed?
streetlight98   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:28 AM]
I think the mall was built in the early 70s... The cobraheads were from the 70s so the bases are at least that old... alos yeah your avitar is fine! looks cool too!
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:31 AM]
That makes sense...
Anyway I'm also looking for some feedback on my new non-lighting-related profile pic...are non-lighting avatars allowed around here? Idea
streetlight98   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:33 AM]
yeah i edited my last comment. i guess i edited after you posted. you can use anything as an avitar as long is it's not anything inapropriate or offensive. Yuo can use your grandpa's mailbox as an avitar if you want! Laughing
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:36 AM]
Thanks:)
Anyone interested in knowing the background of this pic and the story behind it?
If you play enough forum games you know it happens to be another hobby of mine...LOL..
streetlight98   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:37 AM]
Sure! You can make a post about it!
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:40 AM]
Here or somewhere on the forum?
streetlight98   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:41 AM]
If it's a longer story I'd say the general non-lighting related discusion section of the forum would be best suited.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Nov 05, 2012 at 01:44 AM]
It's not super long but I'll go post it there along with the (really long) story behind the sunken ship pic in that game I started called "What's Wrong With This Picture?"
EDIT: go to the non lighting related discussion and check it out...
