it's not my house,it's the neighbor's across from me,and the reason the christmas lights look bright compared to the streetlight is the power just came back on,following some bright flashes in the sky accompained by distant buzzes.

Hmmm must have been weather related or an accident involving a pole causing primary line arcing.

it's been happening alot lately,though its only occuring on rainy days.

That sucks, I see your neighbour's have a MV yard blaster as well.

Oh i see...could be due to a build-up of dust on insulators/cut-outs etc. if you haven't had hardly any rain up until now.Then when the dust becomes wet it acts as a conductor and causes a brief short.

the buzzes are pretty loud,the flashes light up the sky a great deal so it might be a substation,there's about 3 Substations within 2 miles of me and several more in the city limits,some of them look pretty old and could use upgrades (some still have Wooden Structures).

and niall the Blaster is Actually Metal-Halide.

Odd it looks very green.

camera exaggerates the effect but then again it was just firing back up so it was green.
