Homemade diffuser
This Electrolier exit sign had no diffuser when I found it. Later I grabbed some pieces of silver-coloured fluorescent diffuser that were just the right width. I cut a part and put it over the opening, voila!

My exit signs have slits on the bottom instead of a diffuser. I kinda miss the downlight found in these older exit signs, I've yet to see a LED exit sign with the classic downlight that the incandescent and fluorescent signs had.

Do they still make CFL exit signs? My elementary shoolhad them. I always thought it was cool to see them strobe when the lamps were dead. The same when the F40T12 lamps were on their way out.
