I'd like to see Econolite's facility. Although most of their heads now are made in Mexico. McCain's entire traffic signal head line is produced in Mexico as well. Only a handful of manufacturers still have complete US-made equipment.
You're welcome! A little background to the name "Eagle": The name Eagle Signal was dropped in 1997 and replaced with Eagle Traffic Control Systems, when Siemens bought them. As of around 2005 the company has slowly phased out the "Eagle" name. All new equipment is branded under "Siemens Transportation Solutions".
How does the DuraSig differ from the Mark IV? Is it solely the appearance or are there functional differences as well? In Michigan I've seen some "doghouse" style signals that use a single Mark IV for the red along with four DuraSig style heads. I don't know why they didn't use the same style for all of the lights.
DuraSig is plastic with inset door hinges. the Mark IV is aluminum with exposed hinges. The DuraSig design has been modifed three times since its introduction in 1973. The Mark IV has been modified twice since it's introduction in the 1980s.
I live in Michigan as well. And the top section on the doghouses are Mark IV's because they are the aluminum model. It is able to support the weight of the sections hanging underneath it. Using a plastic red section would easily snap to pieces under the weight in a good windstorm
