This parking lot light at Lowe's Home Improvement Center is burning a low-pressure xenon discharge - and has been like this for at least a year, at about the time of the last relamp, and I think it's actually a defective lamp out of the package, not a non-cycling failure. About half the HPS and metal halide lamps have failed in this parking lot - they're not doing really well on maintenance.
This defective lamp has been replaced with a metal halide lamp. I'm wondering if it is a retrofit, or they changed the ballast, or just stuck an ordinary MH lamp in there (my suspicion!) There are now a bunch of random MH replacements, and yet many of the flood lamps lighting the building (which ARE MH) were not serviced.
