Cannon Beach, Oregon: Holophane LEDS
Saw these interesting Holophane "LEDgend" fixtures with emitters arranged in a triple chevron design on the main through street (South Hemlock). It appears to be a return to "whiteway" lighting with the side streets remaining HPS - this is opposed to Seattle which decided to use LEDs on residential streets and keep high wattage arterial lighting HPS (at least initially). I did not see these at night, so I don't know their colour temperature. I actually like these - they look like big, modern desk lamps.

Ahh, the horseshoe crab lights. Laughing I wonder how's the light distribution on these.

Over here the side streets have been changed out to LED but almost all the arterials are still HPS.

they looked decent to me in terms of the light they put off. and they're still weird to look at but not as much as some other LED fixtures.

I only want 100w MV on side streets and the rest gets LPS-E Cool
streetlight98   [Apr 27, 2014 at 01:57 AM]
175W MV too! Very Happy

No, thanks to you 100w MV looks Very good with the new lamps they out do the HPS trash. I would do 400w for places that can't have LPS-E, You would not want LPS-E on [Av of the arts] You know this street?

Ah thanks. Yeah when the MV fixtures are actually taken care of and relamped every 4-8 years or so, they're actually very bright! And 4-8 years is the life of a HPS lamp anyways so it's not like they require more maintenance. But if you wait until the lamp actually burns out, of course it's going to be dimmer then a flashlight beam! Many of the MV lights around here before I reported them had lamps from the early 90s or even before that. Some had their original 70s lamps! The last pole on Oakland Ave right near Newport Ave still has its original lamp and it's REALLY dim! You should check it out before they either relamp or replace it (since I did report it, as it's a safety hazard, that's now dim it is).

Yep I know Avenue of the Arts, right along I-95 near the mall. I was told those post tops originally had 175 and 250W MV. Cool Then some got 150W PSMH and now they're all induction. I like induction lighting but the ones they picked for the post tops in Providence are too dim. Confused

Better than LED.
Form109   [Apr 27, 2014 at 07:58 PM]
I don't want any LPS for streetlighting...it's worse than HPS. I prefer 175 W MV Anyway.
streetlight98   [Apr 28, 2014 at 01:11 AM]
I wouldn't want a lot of LPS. I want a nice even balance of lighting (not MIXED! but some areas MV, some areas HPS, some LPS, some MH, some CMH, some LED, some induction, some incandescent. Variety is nice. Too bad my utopia won't ever exist. Razz
