LOL I bet the glass doesn't even fit, right? Laughing I guess you could try to fit a glass open-bottom NEMA bucket on there though. Laughing

I could imagine someone who didn't know any better doing this actually! Laughing

Laughing Yeah the glass dosen't fit but I think a open bottom glass would fit. Would also be funny to see the M-400A Crimefighter with one of these. I wonder if a 16" PowrBracket bucket would fit in them.
streetlight98   [Aug 23, 2016 at 03:30 PM]
I actually do believe the M-400a crimefighter was about 16". They all used polycarbonate refractors instead of glass, oddly enough.

Mike I am not sure if the M-400A and M-400A2 ever had MV crime fighters though, but the newer smaller crimefighers even the 70s one actually has the polycarbonate refractors, I actually held an actual crime fighter a GE M-250A2 version! It's the first ones that had the glass

I have a feeling that the M-400A/M-400A2 Crimeifghters were only made in 310W HPS since that's what Chicago used in them. I suppose for lower wattages, the M-250A2 one was used instead. Didn't know the M-250A2 versions were also glass, GE must have switched glass manufacturers as the M-250R ones use the same glass as a Holophane RSL-200.
streetlight98   [Aug 24, 2016 at 02:06 PM]
Yeah from the pictures I've seen, the M-250R1 Crimefighters used polycarbonate as did the M-400A ones. Yeah I've seen pictures of some CMH M-250A2 crimefighters with glass lenses.

I agree, I don't think there was a 400W MV crimefighter. The only MV ones AFAIK were these M-250R ones.

Hmm, didn't know Chicago had CMH crimefighters. Would be pretty interesting to see one of those. It seems almost all the Crimefighters in collector's hands are the M-250R MV ones. I also wonder if a 250w MV M-250R Crimfighter was made, I've yet to see one pop up aside from yours which is 250w MV max.

Turns out the lights I was thinking of are standard M-250A2s with CMH lamps. Still cool that they were using CMH instead of LED, though I think they've probably switched to LED now since GE no longer makes PSMH cobraheads. Note the weird wattages too. They apparently also use CMH 325s.
joe_347V   [Aug 26, 2016 at 09:11 AM]
Ahh, yeah any PSMH cobrahead is pretty neat in my opinion. I believe the weird wattages is because they use a proprietary series of Philips CMH lamps instead of standard CMH lamps, but then again Chicago seems to like their weird wattages. Laughing I wonder if those GE PSMH lights in those wattages were a standard product or another Chicago special.

Marshall, MI has a lot of PSMH cobras although it seems like they might refitted old HPS lights since I recall seeing yellow NEMA tags. Toronto has MH AEL 125s but I think they're probe start. The gumballs are all PSMH though and I think they use CMH lamps in them.

Weird that GE would make a fixture designed special for Philips lamps when GE makes their own CMH lamps.
