LOL maybe if the M-250A comes down i'll take a pic of the three together. Funny how whenever i get a westie light, it's followed by a GE lol. I got the OV-25 then the M-400. the OV-10 then the M-250A. and now the RMA-10 now the M-250R1. since i got the OVC i wonder if now i'll get an american electric light? lol. Well, if i do i hope it's once i get my own place since i am seriously booked with space now. i'm even takeing over the shed with lights now (not street lights, only my signal, traffic signs, 4ft mast arm, and a few fluorescents will be out there).

also, don't know if i mentioned this, but the faux nema tag is off the light now that it's outside. i didn't want the color to run and stain the fixture... i could have stuck a real tag on but i'm not done painting it (and since it's mounted i'll probably never get around to it lol) and don't want to mask it off when i do eventually finish painting it.

the bird guard has held up but the birds are still trying the investigate where their nest went lol. i did feel a little bad since birds do work hard on building their nests but i can't tolorate a nest in my light... Razz Mad anyways, a few birds retalliated by crapping on top of the light lol.

Yeah you seem to get new lights in a pattern lol. I actually thought the NEMA tag was the real one but yeah, inkjet printed stuff will run outdoors.

I guess the birds got made at you for sealing up their nest lol. Maybe you should put a birdhouse in your yard. Razz

yeah it's a pretty odd coincidence lol. yeah i photocopied one of my blue 10s and covered it with contact paper but that wouldn't have held up outside. we did have a birdhouse at one point but we got rid of it since it never had any tennants lol.

Ahh I don't have tags on the fixtures I use outdoors too (35w HPS wallpack and 100w MV yardlight) but the bumper stickers I use should be somewhat water resistant.

I never had a birdhouse but robins have made a bunch of nests in the trees and bushes in my yard (found a egg once).

There's also some pesky yellow jackets that hang around in the yard and area. I wait till it's less than 50 out before I take their nests down.

My 70W deck light doesn't have a NEMA tag either because i don't want to "waste" NEMA tags on residential fixtures lol.

ahh i've never come across a bird egg before. I was fortunate enough that nobody was home when the nest went. no flying in my face or pooping on my head lol. What i was really worried about was opening it and having a bird egg fall out. I'd feel really bad then. The nest was empty though and fell right to the grass when i let the power door pivot down. I had to open the refractor door to get all of the hay out of there lol. I removed the power door and unscrewed the ballast and brushed all the hay out and some of the bird poo then installed the door again after fitting it with a cardboard birdguard. nothing at all was harmed fortunatly.

there used to be bees that made homes behind my traffic signs along the fence in the summer. they probably liked the heat since there was always direct sunlight on the sign in the afternoon. It was the black sign with the 9 yellow dots and the no parking taxi stand sign.

kinda random, but what i love about the deep GE glass lens is the huge prisms compared to any other refractor, glass or plastic. The shallow lens and especially plastic lenses, haev much smaller prisms.

I had some 1" square NEMA tags which I made for my residential fixtures but I haven't put them on yet. I don't want to use the full sized ones on them for the same reason. Razz

Bird eggs are a bit rare but there's a large number of abandoned nests in my yard and area. They also tend to wake me up at 4AM if I leave the window open lol.

As for the yellow jackets they made a huge nest in the shed and below the deck. The one below the deck was removed when the deck was rebuilt a few years back and the one in the shed got removed a few weeks ago. It was still cold enough a few weeks back so they were still inactive.

I've only seen the deep GE refractor once or twice but I remember it looks quite cool on the M-250A it was in. Most small glass refractors here are the Holophane style that my R47 has. There's a very small number of Lexalite plastic too.

I still wish I had the money at the time that M-400A was on e-bay. Crying or Very sad You wouldn't want to sell it by any chance would you? Sad

Hey George. Yeah I was lucky to get this light. I sorry though, I really don't want to part with this light. If I do need to part with it for some odd reason I'll come to yuo first (may have to pick it up though since I'm shipping Darren one of the M-400A2s and I definitely don't want to go through this again lol. The box for it is huge!)

I think I might end up repainting the M-250A (AGAIN, for the THIRD time) because the paint is kinda dull and uneven. Some spots barely have any paint. The powr/module is good but the refractor door and top housing could use more paint. I might just leave it alone though since even factory paint jobs aren't perfect (typically they're far from perfect lol).

Awesome yea I got my M400A back from powder coat and it looks Great only thing is I have to wait until the issues with my comp. is resolved to post any pics. The grey is a little lighter than the factory grey on my 1985 nos M400A though but i think the '78's were a little lighter.
streetlight98   [Jan 26, 2015 at 12:59 AM]
I can only speak for NOS GEs from 1973, 1974, and 1981 (and they're all the same color) but my M-250A is a different color than the factory paint too. But you'd never know that unless you compare them side-by-side. Krylon Pewter Gray seems a little bluer gray than the factory GE paint, which looks like more of a yellowish gray IMO. In the pic above the M-250A looks like the lighter of the two but that was before I re-repainted it. The paint above is actually an older variation of the paint (from like the 90s or something).
