These used to be extremely common at service stations, though the few that still have them don't maintain them. Over the last 5 years I have come across a few that still work....it's a beautiful sight.

I know of a few of these in some odd places (parking lots, pathways, subway train yard O_o) but none of them work at night. The ones in the subway yard appear to have SBMV lamps in them.
