250W HPS test board
After my 100W mercury vapour test board, here's a 250W HPS one! I found a pair of 250W HPS ballasts last Thursday at school. One is an Advance 120/277/347V (pictured here) and the other is a 347V Magnetek.

On the Advance ballast, the ignitor was shot, since I had nothing to lose, I opened it and found a 6K power resistor that crumbled apart. I replaced it by a pair of big 12K ohm resistors in parallel and it now works like a charm! The ballast is gonna live on this test board, which includes a 12V start/stop circuit!

Shocked Looks good, I see that your 12v control circuit is in DC too. Razz

Most DC relays act weird on AC, so I had to add a bridge rectifier from a computer power supply LOL. I still have to order a 14 pin relay as well.

Ahh, I see...I've been planning to make one of these similar start/stop switches but with a 120v ac relay so I don't have to wire up a LV control circuit. Razz

From an electrician's point of view, I think a control circuit being at the same voltage as the power circuit is rather pointless XD. I make those circuits on 12V so I have no contact with 120V, the relay does the job for me Wink

But from a lighting enthusiast's point of view, it sure is cool to use relays, no matter their voltage!

Nice! But what is a 12V start/stop circuit?
