York 2 X F40 troffer now in service!
(I got an AC adapter for my KODAK camera, so I'm back with better quality pics!)

Here's another fluorescent fixture I installed in my basement. This replaced the last plastic keyless lampholder that was original to the house. The inside of the socket wasn't even yellow anymore, it was brown O_O

This troffer is lamped with an early 1990s F40D Canadian Mainlighter and a later American GE F40DX from '03 - '05.

How old is your house? Mine's from 2003 and it came with porcelain keyless sockets. I've replaced two of the four with fluorescent fixtures, but kept the sockets in a box on my "lighting loft".

Mine is WAY older, 1977! The sockets I replaced were made of plastic and were just so freakin' dried out they wouldn't even function properly anymore LOL.

Shocked My house is from 1982 and the plastic sockets were still in great shape when I replaced them with fluorescent striplights.

Well run 100W lamps in them for 35 years, you'll see them changing from white to BROWN! xD

Hmm. How coem you guys didn't have porcelain sockets? I figured since my house was newer it'd have cheesy plastic ones and older houses would have poercelain ones. Neutral

We do but I guess the builders we have were too cheap to use them. Anyways, my tester socket that I made uses a porcelain socket.

Was '05 when they switched to Ecolux? If so is there such a thing as an Ecolux lamp with the F40DX ordering code?
