Rocky Point Park Lights: Falling Westie OV-15 Shot 1 Looks like the arm came off its thru-bolt somehow. Just the lags are holding this guy up there. This pole seems to be in fair condition with some dead vines on it though. There's also a HPS flood on this pole. The glass is broken on it too but the lamp is fully intact. Same story with the westie. This one still has a photocell. A good portion of the lights have missing photocells. Probably broke off or blew out of the sockets. All this needs is a new refractor, the water to be drained and dried out of it and it would probably light up fine. Keywords: American_Streetlights

I want to! Laughing My grandpa has been trying for months to get me some of these lights but he's had no luck getting in touch with the state. He was just about to get permission from the organization that owned this land but then the state bought the entire property so back to square one. Mad

I wish I could help you and your Grandpa try and get permission to save these lights and also help get the lights.

A lot of wood poles inside the park just need a light tap from a pick up truck bumper and they'll come right down but the lights in best condition and the most variety of lights are on the metal davit poles. There are two MV NEMA heads on a twin arm tapered elliptical pole in the heart of the park where the destroyed buildings are. The brightly colored tiles are still on the ground where the buildings were. I'm sure there were fluorescent light fixtures in the rubble at one time, but someone probably took them for scrap. I doubt they'd be any good anyways. It's a shame the state waited so long to purchase the property from the previous organization because the state may have been able to better preserve the park. Even the 2008 bird's eye view of the park on bing maps looks pretty decent. Now the pavement is just cracking apart and the park is just slowly disappearing. Sad

I hope so too. I might as well take the arm too at that. Very Happy After looking closely at this pic, it looks like there's a bullet hole in the door near the refractor, though that could be a drip hole. there are more OV-400s in perfect condition so I'd rather aim at saving one of them if anything though I'd love to sneak in at night with a bucket truck and be out by dawn. Laughing I'm still wondering how the arm slipped off its thru-bolt. I wonder if these are soley 240V of if they can be rewired for 120V. They're likely 240V but there's still the possibility...

BTW, here is a bird's eye view of the estate. It's a bit outdated though since it doesn't show the bike path the state paved in order to allow public access.
