Mercury Vapor American Electric 25
Yep it's indeed 400 watts mercury vapor. It lacks a NEMA tag, but this dayburned back before it was fixed in 2010. I guess that was when NGrid still serviced 400w MV mis-outs. This is in the east side of Providence.

Interesting, it's too bad my area dosen't have any mercury missouts. Razz

We have a handful here. A few 60's M-400 and some OV-25. this is the only merc AE 25 i know of though. All they service now are 100W mercs. I'm not sure why they chose to still service just 100 wat ones, but I certainly won't complain about it. It's only a matter of time though before they stop servicing all mercs.

Well we still have some 60s era M-400s, OV 25s, along with AE 25s here but they've all been converted to HPS...I know of a street in Toronto with presumably HPS OV 25 flatbottoms. Shocked

Duquesne Light has some mercury vapor missouts in their area but they're slowly disappearing since they don't maintain any mercury vapor light of any wattage anymore. In 2006, they stopped installing mercury vapor replacement fixtures and stopped relamping mercury vapor fixtures in 2010. Confused

NGrid has never instaleld anything besides HPS here. The large portion of the HPS changeover happened during the last few years Narragansett Electric was around. If NGrid never took over, there's the possibility that no mercs would be left here. I talked to my grandpa and he said Narragansett Electric was jumping on the bandwagon and getting rid of all the mercs. they started with 400w mercs (with a few missouts as you can see) and then NGrid bought them out while they were the middle of changing out the 175 and 100W mercs. So even though NGrid doesn't install mercs, I have to give them credit for serving the left behind ones. I guess that explains why there are many more low-wattage mercs here than medium wattage.

I guess these are the closest thing we have to a merc missout, I never did really figure out why that street is still lit with MV, but hey I ain't complaining.

We at WMECO are still relamping Mercs of all wattages. I just relamped and replaced the Photocell in a old 400 watt MV GE flood this week in one of our substations.

Sweet. Cool Here they only relamp 100W mercs. They will replace the photocell in 1000w mercury vapor floods, but once the lamp goes ot it's simply jsut too dimmed out, a 400W HPS GE PF-400 replaces it. A 250W HPS PF-400 replaces the 400W mercury vapor floods that are still left here. They will just replace the flood if a 400W merc one needs a new PC though. I guess they figure a 1000w lamp will still be bright enough even if it's dim.
