I guess Lowe's is Clearing Out Their Specialty Bulbs...
Visited Lowe's today and I saw that most of their specialty bulbs were on clearance. I guess they're clearing out the stuff they have that that isn't moving like their HID lamps -_- and some of their halogens and incandescent. The HIDs and the CFL are Sylvania and the incandescent/halogens are GE.
Interesting. Last i checked these lamsp are still sold here at Lowe's. Looks like Lowe's has a separete Canadian Division? Perhaps it's just the canadian lowe's locations that are phasing out these lamps? Awesome grab though. At the normal price, i could get two sylvania 175W mercs for the same subtotal as all those lamps on clearance.
Yeah, it's too bad they're clearing out the HID lamps but I guess they weren't selling well to begin with. Anyways the 175w Sylvania mercs were around the same price as the US before they started clearing them out. And the MHs were around $30 regular .
They also cleared out the fluorescent starters, F20 ballasts, and specialty Sylvania lamps (replaced with Feit). A lot of American companies usually start a Canadian division when they open stores here, I know Walmart, and HD has a Canadian division too.
I see you have a 13% sales tax up there! Where I live in California it is 8.75%. What does H and G mean? I know ST means sales tax. Nice lot of bulbs, they are more or less the same as what I see at Lowes out here either now or in the recent past that they cleared out.
@Dave, yeah our sales tax is 13% and it used to be 15% a few years ago . GST stands for goods and sales tax which is levied by the federal government while HST stands for harmonized sales tax and is a combination of the old GST and the provincial sales tax known as the PST.
@chrislights71, I've noticed that Lowe's tends to steeply discount products they have on clearance while HD only takes 25-50% off.
BTW, i checked the Lowe's near me a little while back and everything is full price. The MV lamps are MORE expensive than i remembered! The price was raised from $14 and change to $16 and change for the clear 175W MV lamps and from $14 and change to $18 and change for the coated H39s.
