Here's a new style digital meter (not sure if "smart") meter being tested using a old GE meter base I has lying around wired for 120v. The load being metered is a 135w signal lamp.
Interestingly even though the brand is different it looks a lot like this Sensus Icon in use in my service. I wonder if Invensys sold off their meter division to Sensus.
