It's a sort of a style....a designer poles....yes even the simplest ideas can be a design! Also it's to keep gulls as far away from the fixtures Wink

Those sorta looks like knights holding swords!

Maybe the tops of the poles can be used as lightning rods so they can get fried and be replaced by OV-25s Wink

Possibly they were planning to mount flags or pennants or something on the tops of the poles.

Yeah, I guess they forgot about it lol. This section of the Gardiner is actually up for reconstruction in the coming years. I wonder what the new lighting design will be.

LEDs lol. Maybe they'll use high-powered LED rope light on the guardrails. Wouldn't light much and would be targeted by cars but it would look cool on a one-lane bridge if each side had luminous guardrails lol.

We have bridge that now has over 10000 small LEDs on it that change color to the weather lol. Heres a link to an photo and article about it

Interesting you guys mention LEDs in the handrails. I've heard persistent rumours that the Gardiner once had ramps that were lit with HO fluorescent embedded in the handrails. I've been trying so long to find a pic of them.

Before these round shoeboxes were installed, this section of the Gardiner used to have aluminium davit poles with LPS fixtures.
