Finally pulled out my 1kW ballast from storage and wired it up so I could light this huge CMH up. The 860w CMH was designed as a drop in energy saving retrofit for M147 1000w probe start ballasts as well as M141 pulse start ballasts.
Unfortunately while the Allstart line is still made, it seems like Philips discontinued the 860w model shown here. See here for the specs.
all other CMH lamps are Universal..I wonder why this isn't ..this would last a lot longer than the GE multi-vapor which rarely last a year dusk to dawn

Since they're vertical burn only, you can pretty much only use them to refit highbays, certain shoeboxes and highmast lights.
