Dude...
I found all of these 400w vintage mercs at Restore today. They were sitting in a old Sylvania HID box and all came in Sylvania sleeves with [url=http://www.galleryoflights.org/mb/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-679]this[/url] design.

The lamps from left to right are:

Sylvania /DX Date code 16R, the only NOS lamp from the lot April 1981
Westinghouse Canada /DX Lifeguard, date code 01 October 1981
Westinghouse /DX Weather Duty Lifeguard, date code 3 on top, 70 under July 1970
GE /C Bonusline ED, date code 39 March 1967
GE /C Bonusline BT, date code 94 October 1963

Thanks to Dave for dating all the lamps for me.

Here's some closeups of the etches:

Don't think I'm going to be able to make it this time around as I head back to Alaska on Wednesday...
joe_347V   [Jul 01, 2013 at 05:11 AM]
Well, you should try going the next time you're in CA then. If no I'll bet AK has a Restore too.

There's probably at least ten Restores within a hour's drive from where I am. Shocked

I know there's one in Anchorage but that's hundreds of miles from where I live...but yes next time I am in CA I plan to go again for sure!
joe_347V   [Jul 01, 2013 at 04:52 PM]
You should, I guess I'm lucky since Southern Ontario has a surprising number of Restores.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jul 01, 2013 at 04:54 PM]
Yeah you are then... Laughing Someday I might have to visit your area and go ReStoring...
joe_347V   [Jul 01, 2013 at 10:30 PM]
I think a lot of big cities have a lot of Restores in them too...
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jul 02, 2013 at 12:29 AM]
That makes sense...
joe_347V   [Jul 02, 2013 at 03:26 AM]
Well, it should since areas with more people have more Habitat affiliates.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jul 02, 2013 at 03:51 AM]
And other secondhand outlets as well.
joe_347V   [Jul 02, 2013 at 04:03 AM]
I fine Restore has a lot more lighting goodies though.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jul 02, 2013 at 04:07 AM]
Me too! Although I've found plenty of cool things at other thrift stores!
joe_347V   [Jul 02, 2013 at 04:09 AM]
Well, I can't say the thrift stores have been totally dry, I once found a pair of CMH track lights for sale there.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jul 02, 2013 at 04:11 AM]
I found all my vintage bug lights at a thrift store and at another I found a bunch of insuators!
joe_347V   [Jul 02, 2013 at 04:13 AM]
I heard Darren found a Unidor 175 with vintage merc lamp at a thrift store. Shocked

I did find a Cooper vapourtight HID light at one point. Someone bought it before I did. Mad Rolling Eyes
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jul 02, 2013 at 04:19 AM]
I went yardsaling every weekend of my vacation and as I was arriving at one yard sale someone was buying some NOS Lithiona 2XF40 striplights...
joe_347V   [Jul 02, 2013 at 05:31 AM]
Ehh, pretty common stuff. I find yard sales here to not have a lot of good stuff so I stick to Restore.
streetlight98   [Jul 07, 2013 at 08:29 PM]
hmm here the only restore in the state is out in the boondocks lol. i have yet to find any HID related stuff but the fluorescent finds are pretty good and the street lights i see on the ride there are definetly awesome (mostly mercs though in the immediate area of the restore it's all 50W HPS late 80s M-250R2s on 6ft cantilever aluminum arms.
joe_347V   [Jul 07, 2013 at 10:09 PM]
Ahh the GTA has a lot of Restores and I've seen HID stuff in a fair number of stores. MIne seems to get a lot of overstock lighting too.
streetlight98   [Jul 08, 2013 at 12:18 AM]
ahh any fixtures i've found are used but they have oldstock and overstock lamps, namely CFLs and PLs with PL adapters.
joe_347V   [Jul 08, 2013 at 03:07 AM]
Mine gets new in box fixtures from lighting and electrical stores and sometimes ballasts too.
