Here's a GE 400w Bonusline clear merc being tested on a 250w MV/MH ballast, I'll have to wait till I get a 400w MV ballast before I fire up this baby again.
Wish I had one for my M-400 and a Lifeguard merc for my OV-10. I think the OV-25 will be 400W MV as well if my parents let me visit Joe Maurath Jr. to see his collection.
Come down to Rhode Island and we'll go to rocky point park and push a pole down for ya. You can choose between either a 400W MV OV-15, OV-25, 60s M-400, M-400 split-door, M-400R2, or a lens-less AE 25.
As long as you leave me a few sure. Unfourtunatly, some are in sad shape (missing refractors mostly though some M-400 have missing doors, gaskets, and reflectors though there are at least 20 perfect lights.
The ones on wooden poles that lit the park are being swallowed up by vines and trees. I almost cried out when I noticed a bunch of them mounted over what will eventually be woods if nothing is done.
The wood poles are in very bad shape and in a few years they could rot enough to start failing. A couple already have rotted to the point of falling. There are downed powerlines all over the place, though not live. Grass as tall as me is growing up through cracks in the pavement.
One OV-15 on a wood pole i mounted on a 30" arm that somehow came off it's thru-bolt and now hangs by it's two lag bolts. The lens is smashed and I could see water in it. I was sagged very badly.
I just want to go there and take every light out of there. I only live a good 20 minutes away. They're only going to get scrapped and I sure hate seeing them rot in hell.
Man I remember pressuring Joseph to find a 400w MH highbay or something for this...LOL
I've viewed this pic many times and I still can't get over how beautiful this looks! How bright is this compared to a 400w MH?
Well, MP is only one of the factors in picture quality. My DSLR is only 12.2 MP but the pictures it produces are a lot better than my 14 MP Point and Shoot camera.
Yeah I need to research this more...with mine the macro turns out pretty good IMO as long as a lamp's etch is clear and bold and dark, but if it's faint, then it gets blurry. Lit lamps also seem to turn out weird with mine...or even fixtures...
Well, if you take a lot of streetlight pics like I do I guess getting a good camera is a good idea but if you camera has a decent macro feature it's still good. Make sure your area is well lit too, I actually have a double tube 5000K F20T12 Ultralume fixture setup above where I do my macro shots.
There was a time when I had three F40 fixtures in the room where I took macro shots of lamp etches, etc. but that's at my house in Alaska and also fixtures have been moved around since then...I do always make sure the area is well-lit though!

I actually want to retake a shot of it lit with my new camera but haven't yet. 400w merc is around 2/3 the brightness of a 400w MH....
