well i'd much rather see this happen to dead chinatown lamps rather than westie lifeguards or durotest lamps that still have years of life left on them. It would have been nice if they could have at least used a clear resin to toughen the lamps instead of using colored ceramic since now the etches and arc tubes are no longer visable.
and some of these lamps look sort of rare. I'd much rather see these lamps left in their original condition and properly displayed in a historical museum rather than painted over like nothing and displayed as "artwork" with no purpose whatsoever. Why not do it to some altos or Plusrite lamps?
