Ryerson Library LED Retrofit
|
They're in the process of retrofitting the existing 30x30 2x F17T8/741 troffers at the Ryerson library to LED. AS part of the retrofit they're keeping the existing fixtures and replacing the lamps with 4000K LED tubes and replacing the prismatic 12 diffusers with a custom 16 cell parabolic louver assembly. Seems to work ok because of the low ceilings and closely spaced troffers.
I guess the odd size of the troffers meant they can't readily find replacements for them. The T8s that are getting replaced were installed in the mid 90s along with the specular reflector that's being reused. The fixtures originally used 2x FB40T12s and are from 1974.

You can barely make them out but there's a bunch of disconnected 100w MV cans along the concrete wall on the right. This place must have been bright with the FB40s and 100w MVs.
