M-250A
Located in Hampton, NH. This fixture is 100 watt MV wired at 240 volts. I noticed this year they finally replaced the photoeye and relmaped the fixture since the last six years it was dayburning and had a dim lamp. Looked great this year at night!

I hope i can get a M-250A. If i get one i really hope it's MV though. 100 or 175w.

Even not u can get an HPS one and change out the ballast.
streetlight98   [Sep 03, 2011 at 09:55 PM]
Yeah, but real mercury vapor ballasts are hard to find now and I'd want an origional ballast if it was possible.

I noticed alot of mercs replaced since last year. It's sad to see them disappear. I noticed this utility is still servicing mercs since the M-400A outside my cottage still is a merc and has a brand new FP photocell installed.

weird that they service some and not others. Neutral
Antstar85   [Aug 25, 2013 at 06:21 PM]
They were more than likely replaced do to failure. The street I'm staying on was all mercs when I started coming here and now is down to less than 10 mercs left. They also could just be running out remaining stock of mercs and may just go to HPS for everything.

maybe only certain lineman still have MV lamps? I think that's the case here. Every so often a 100W MV fixture will get serviced but after the start of this summer it's been mainly replace upon servicing. I guess only a couple lineman still have one or two 100w MV lamps left?...

Before i had been reporting all the dim 100W MV fixtures here so they'd get fresh lamps before they decided to pull the plug on the last MV fixtures but now i don't report Mv fixtures since the odds of it getting relamped versus replaced are slim. if this light was jsut serviced though, why replace it? Confused this liekly has a reactance ballast and those things rarely fail. Unless they dropped the light while replacing the pole. Neutral

Here NGrid will transfer a light with a missing door and reflector onto a new pole. Rolling Eyes Laughing It's not that they're being silly though it's because apparently the toublemen repair the street lights and linemen work on the powerlines. One time they transfered a M-250R2 that had a missing door and had lost the reflector/socket and I was like HUH? They removed the photocell though so the light wasn't powered. They did reconenct it to power and the light was replaced a week later by a Cooper OVZ.

Atleast they don't replace the fixture. Unlike here every little problem the solution to them is to replace the whole fixture! Rolling Eyes

they replace the mercs now. any light that doesn't light with a new PC, lamp, refractor (if it's a small size fixture), and refractor door (m-250r2s only) then it gets repalced.
Model25FanForever   [Aug 26, 2013 at 12:16 PM]
In our case they replace the fixtures more often if the the lamp doesn't light. But some fixtures im afraid to report because they might just relamp the whole thing because of its age.
streetlight98   [Aug 26, 2013 at 12:38 PM]
yeah i've heard stories of working fixtures getting replaced in your area. rediculous. Mad Rolling Eyes
Model25FanForever   [Aug 26, 2013 at 02:31 PM]
Joseph Matt and Niall have probably told you too Laughing I think we have lazy crews Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Aug 26, 2013 at 02:43 PM]
that or half-brained contractors. They probably replace the light so they can charge the city more. Rolling Eyes

Duquesne Light is replacing their mercury vapor street lights individually as the bulbs burn out.
Model25FanForever   [Aug 26, 2013 at 09:24 PM]
MV has been gone on our roads for quite some time. I saw them replace the bulb inside this http://goo.gl/maps/Wx5BX Its HPS but atleast the whole fixture didn't come down Cool

MV is still used in some parts of Northern York Region, Niagara, Waterloo, and near Collingwood. (Not sure if they relamp them) Most cities here are HPS though.
