I dunno why. But it was the only one that was so close to my camera. This was shot on the sidewalk on a bridge over the Mass Turnpike. I can't believe how close this street light was to the bridge.

If this is on the mass pike then the fixture is 277 volts not 120. I work with a guy who worked for the state and majority of the lighting is 277/480.

Most of the State of Maryland lights are 240 volts from what I was told, also I found out New Jersey Turnpike lights are 277 volts.

I believe the state lighting here with indivdual PCs is a mix of 240V and 120V. I have no clue what voltage RIDOT chose for the new realy-controlled lights though. I'm thinking maybe 3 phase 208V? I saw a knockdown pole and there were a ton of wires and several colors coming out of the base where as with older individually controlled lights it's just three (sometimes two dependign on whether the second 120V line was capped during the HPS switch or if a 240V HPS light was used).

MTO lighting here is usually a mix of 347/600V 3 phase and 347V single phase. Both are controlled by relays but the 3 phase lights have a ground mounted relay cabinet while the single phase ones have a pole mounted cabinet.
