ITT Model 25 at dusk
Another ComEd ITT Model 25, except it's on a separate pole. The arm also appears to have a smaller tip at the end for the slipfitter. Not sure of the wattage, could be 250 or 400, but definitely a Merc.

Most likely a 400 if its a MV
streetlight98   [Jul 06, 2011 at 09:58 PM]
Yeah, I've never seen a 250w MV medium fixture.

Obviously that was a retrofit. Once small size cobras were invented GE used, 100, 175, and 250w mercury lamps were in small fixtures. 400w was medium, and 700 and 1000w mercury lamps were large. For HPS, 70,100, and 150 were small, 200, 250, and 400 medium, and 1000 was large. Wink

I'm pretty sure they could have ordered a medium 250w MV cobra if they really wanted to, besides you could order a 400w MV small cobra too.
Form109   [Jul 06, 2011 at 10:33 PM]
@streetlight98 i doubt it was a retrofit.

@Joe i agree.

I'm sure you could also order a 50 watt 327 if you really wanted too, the 125 comes in 175 watt MH and the (shudder) new M400 comes in 70 watt HPS! I'm sure the model 25 came in 250 watt MV as the 327 came in 400 watt mercury.

Sorry but I am one VERY STUBBORN customer...

Here's what I want....

I want a Cooper OVH with 1500 watt MH!
gramirez2012   [Jul 10, 2011 at 04:03 PM]
Could be a 400, but I know the other Model 25 I took a pic of is a 250w.
GullWhiz   [Jul 10, 2011 at 06:05 PM]
What I know is usually the bigger fixtures uses 250 watt HPS for model 25..but for MV its 400....
gramirez2012   [Jul 10, 2011 at 07:06 PM]
I drove past it today and it's a 400w merc, you were right.
GullWhiz   [Jul 10, 2011 at 07:23 PM]
Yeah....most 250 watt mercs I have seen are smaller fixtures....while the older 250 watt HPS usually are bigger
gramirez2012   [Mar 08, 2014 at 12:19 PM]
This fixture was just replaced with a new Cooper OVX FCO fixture. Unusual, since ComEd rarely uses Cooper fixtures and recently has only used GE M400R3's. However, there are a couple other ComEd OVX's in this municipality.
Model25FanForever   [Mar 08, 2014 at 02:08 PM]
The model 25's are always getting replaced by OVX's here Confused . Is the OVX HPS or still Merc?
gramirez2012   [Mar 08, 2014 at 03:37 PM]
HPS.
streetlight98   [Mar 08, 2014 at 04:11 PM]
Geeze what, is everyone ditching GE now? lol Here National Grid is using Cooper lights too (for 250W and 400W). 50 and 100W HPS is still GE though, but it could be leftover stock...
Model25FanForever   [Mar 08, 2014 at 05:50 PM]
My city ditched GE 20 years ago or so Laughing . There is the very odd M400 that gets in though.
gramirez2012   [Mar 18, 2014 at 07:40 PM]
Ok the new Cooper fixture is on a brand-new mounting arm. Makes me wonder if the previous fixture/arm got knocked down or fell somehow. I will try to get a pic of the new one.
