Extended slipfitter for previous LPS fixture
Many arms in Long Beach feature these slip-on extensions to accommodate the long low pressure sodium fixtures. The LPS fixtures have since disappeared but these extensions remain to this day. Found on Lakewood Blvd just north of Carson St in Long Beach.

I've seen this on the Gardener Expressway in Toronto too (it use to have LPS)

I wonder if the extensions where added when they converted to LPS or were originally used with the fluorescent lights. Anyways they don't use them anymore on the newer poles so you see a bunch of mismatched poles when driving down the Gardiner Confused

These poles are old, originally either teardrops or clamshells. These little S arms are a bit too short at the end for LPS fixtures so they were added. I agree they do look ugly though.

I mean the extenisions could be removed because the cobraheads can do shorter S arms...
