[GONE] The Abused Pole -Replacement 3
A snapshot in the ongoing knockdown/replacement pole history of -Model25FanForever's shot here-

An octagonal steel pole was installed for this instance with a GE M400R3 FCO AND an OVX. A cockeyed install, but I welcome the variety of a different contractor.

Heh, I wonder if they'll consider replacing this with a pair of curb mounted poles next time it gets knocked down. Laughing

If they were smart they would move them to the curbs Laughing . Theres also the other new short pole with the FCO 125's in the background too

Heh, those short arms look a bit odd compared to what I'm used to seeing.

Yeah they aren't used too much around here it seems, theres one here that suits well, 250w OVX's seems like a bit much there though.

Wow another replacement? M-400 FCOs must be pretty rare up there! Cool to see a GE since I know GEs in general aren't super common in Ontario. Especially cool since who knows how much longer GE's cobraheads will be around. The cobraheads, two post tops, and the 201SA (NEMA light) are the only non-LED GE fixtures left in production. All their area, wall, flood, highmast, and other outdoor lighting in addition to all their indoor HID and (limited) fluorescent offerings were axed some time ago.

Who knows how long this will stay up. I don't there ever were a lot of GE fixtures here, most of what we have here for GE's were installed somewhere between 2000-2006. A lot of residential 70w shoebox's got replaced with new poles and GE M250R2's. The only cool old GE light we have is this GEM400a.

I guess it wont be long before everything here will be LED.

The MTO used GE M400A3s for a while in the mid 2000s but switched to Cooper and more recently to LED. They also used a mix of GE M400A2 FCOs and M400R2 FCOs on the expressway part of Highway 7 some of which are getting replaced soon.

Toronto has a small amount of older GEs like these M-400s I think there used to be more but I think they replaced a few that had blown ballasts/ignitors. Some MV M-250Rs light this subway station bus loop along with a single MV M-400. Not really sure how common were Form 400s here but I know the Form 109 was super rare, only a couple plazas had them in the lots.

But yeah GEs aren't super common here, Powerlite, Westinghouse lights, and even McGraw Edison lights were more common in my are. More recently it was AELs and Coopers.

Yeah they used a lot of FCO GE M400A2's on the 401 ramps and some ramps on the 407 had FCO GE M250R2's and FCO GEM400R2's, which are all gone on both highways. 407 uses those ugly LED verdeons now Rolling Eyes

Seems like there still are a fair amount of the M400's around in West Etobicoke/Toronto still. They are being replaced like crazy nowadays. Probably another 5 years (or LED changeover) they will be almost all gone on the streets.

Over here Powerlites were most dominant mostly R47 and R37, up until the early 2000s when Cooper OVX's came along Rolling Eyes . In the 70's a lot of subdivisions were either getting short 70-150w shoebox's or Westinghouse OV-15's that were 70-150w. Now its mostly AE 115's being installed for everything up to 250w. OVX installs are only for 400w applications now and occasionally AE 125's come up for 400w.
