There are more AE 125's in my Area than the 1997 Era M400's (R3 and A3)

I only know of 4 of them in my area, we have some 125s but there are ALOT of Powerlites

We have a few AE 125s in my area, but we have a lot of Powerlites and OV 25s here too. There's also a few FCO Hubbells scattered here.

I've seen the GEM400A3 and R3s used a lot on provincial highways here.

in Alabama iv'e even seen Bronze Colored M400R3's...now those are Pretty Cool.

Bronze GE M-250R2, GE M-400A1, GE M-400A2, GE M-400A3, AE 113, AE 115, OVX aare as common as gulls around here!!!

By the way hubbells aren't really copied versions...and they actually have two doors....one is actually a door that has a ballast...a powerdoor actually!

Well here Powerlites are as common as gulls in fact more common! But we have also been OVXed

We were OVXed in 1990....thats when we started getting OVXed...it's only for the STATE of MD...not the electrical companies..just for Maryland highway departments called SHA.... But I also have been noticing them using OVH recently....

The Shape of the Fixture is Similar....also...gailgrove....GE seems to be First with the Powerdoor Thing...and AE Power Pads are like the Powerdoor Version of AE's....so looks like Party 1 Coppies Party 2 and Vise Versa....both ways.

Duquesne Light was the first electric company here in PA to install Cooper Lighting OVX's in the early 90's.

in Tyler and East Texas we haven't Gotten OVX's that Much..in Fact they are pretty Scarce...they are just as Rare Here as the Hubbel's are.

Well Form109...you forgot the Westinghouse Tudor...which is also a powerdoor...see "Tu-dor" = "Two Door" Also McGraw Edison Unidors are a form of powerdoors too....BUT in a different way...they used ONE door....simply remove refractor door, remove the whole reflector and door assembly (the reflector is permanently attached to the door..including the socket) and put new door and reflector assembly and put the original refractor door on.

Why is the First Generation Silverliner OV-25 Two Doored?....i don't think that one is Powerdoor.....stilll....whats the Purpose of those Two Doors on that one...oh and the Early Generation OV-50.

It's not really a door, just a screwed in cover for slipfitter access...it's nothing but a thin metal strip screwed on...same goes for OV-14B...if you look at my OV-14B...except they aren't screwed but snapped on...

How come the Cover is steel when the Rest of the Fixture is Aluminum.

It's not steel, it's also aluminum

@form109 Up here Powerlite started with power doors at basically the same time as GE, so it MIGHT of been Powerlite that was first with Powerdoors

me myself...ive always Liked Single Door Fixtures better...but i like all the Powerdoor types out there.

Single doors = burnt ballast = a new junk will be installed...

Power door = streetlight gets to stay with new ballast!

Not Nessicarily....in my Area i know of Single Door OVM's and M400R2's that got New Ballasts and Lamps after they were Dark for a Great Time....the Only Powerdoor's on my Area's Roadways are HPS M400A1's and Some Tudor OV-25's....which in Theory would be easier to maintain since if a Ballast Frys all you gotta do is swap that Ballast door (Provide the Ballast is actually on the door) as i do know some powerdoors have Ballasts on the Tops like Regular Non Powerdoor's.

How do you know they get new ballasts......its not simple to replace a ballast.......if you think they get new ballasts cuz HPS didn't cycle....trust me HPS don't always cycle in EOL...some just go out suddenly or just simply quit......plus they probably just change ignitor which is easier....but ballasts......that takes longer than replacing streetlights and size problems
