Early-mid 80s Royale 15W inside frosted lamps.
My dad got home from work yesterday with a little susprise for me! He also told me that where he works, there's a whole case of these light bulbs unused and probably going to be thrown away. I asked him to get them if he can!

Oh Embarrassed assumed they were Canadian, good quality lamps!
Silverliner14B   [Jan 18, 2010 at 06:35 AM]
Cool! If you get more save me a pack LOL Wink

These 6000h incandescent lamps are underdriven because incadescents can't reach such figure without underdriving it.
TiCoune66   [Jan 18, 2010 at 04:35 PM]
Of course Dave, in the future I'd like to send you a couple of packs Smile @Dor123, you're right, these bulbs have a slightly thicker filament in order to get a longer lifetime.
joe_347V   [Jan 18, 2010 at 07:27 PM]
Cool find Vince! Cool it's nice of your dad to save these for you.
Silverliner14B   [Jan 19, 2010 at 01:03 AM]
We could do a trade someday, how does that sound? Being made in the USA suggest they were made in Toledo, OH.
lite_lover   [Jan 19, 2010 at 03:34 AM]
Hey Vince, put aside a pack for me if you will have an abundance of them. Smile
TiCoune66   [Jan 20, 2010 at 12:21 AM]
Dave, I just wait to have the possibility to trade stuff, your 25W GE IF lamps interested me a lot when you were selling a couple, however my parents aren't big fans of internet buys and what's related to it. But I'll find a way to do it, in a close future I hope! Same thing for you Darren, I keep you a pack or two for you as well, and I'll try to deal with shipping. I'll PM or email you (Dave and/or Darren) when I'm ready to trade Wink Oh BTW Dave the lamps have a triangle with a line as the factory code and what looks like L2 as the date code, which would tell me they're from Nov. '82, pretty late for a Royale lamp!
Silverliner14B   [Jan 20, 2010 at 04:41 AM]
Hi Vince, no problem just let me know when you're ready. Is the triangle pointing right, correct? L2, hmm did you see that on the stem press? That symbol suggest it was made at the Little Rock plant, orginally built by Westinghouse. Does the filament have 3 supports? If that and L2 is on the stem press, it means the bulbs were made on a Westinghouse A-15 production line. Look for additional numbers/letters on the other side of the stem press for the date code. L2 is the factory code if this is the case.

I'll be interested too...whenever you are ready!
TiCoune66   [Jan 20, 2010 at 08:58 PM]
Hi Dave, it's really hard to read the numbers on the stem press, on the other side I can see a 2, but can't figure out further, I'll give it another try tonight. I can upload a pic of the etch if you want. BTW the triangle indeed points at right and the filament has 3 supports. Cool to see that these bulbs are virtually identical to Westinghouse lamps! I'll save one or two more packs for Jace Wink
Silverliner14B   [Jan 21, 2010 at 06:59 AM]
Is 2 on the right side of the etch like its the second digit? If so they are from '92. Royale bulbs were around longer than you claim because I have a clear 100w Royale Country made in Canada from '95. Dunno how it came to CA but I found it in a thrift shop.
TiCoune66   [Jan 23, 2010 at 06:32 PM]
Dave, I just checked again and the 2 is on the right side. Sometime in the 90s these bulbs got the "Royale-Country" name, they used to be only called "Royale". Somehow, some lower wattage lamps kept the classic Royale package well into the 90s.
joe_347V   [Jan 23, 2010 at 06:40 PM]
Hey Vince, I've just checked my Royale bulb and it seems to have been made as late as 2007 but it's in a almost identical pack to yours. The one I have is a 150W clear bulb that was made in Mexico
Silverliner14B   [Jan 23, 2010 at 08:59 PM]
If Royale is still around today, chances the bulbs would now be made in China. Philips has ceased production of incandescent bulbs in Mexico.
TiCoune66   [Jan 23, 2010 at 09:23 PM]
I boosted up my stockpile with a bunch of mexican Philips a while ago, good thing I did! I think these are now known as "Country" lamps, they just removed the Royale...
Silverliner14B   [Jan 23, 2010 at 11:51 PM]
I stockpiled on USA made Philips bulbs a long time ago. The T-19 shaped soft whites are now collectible, hard to believe!
TiCoune66   [Mar 09, 2010 at 12:11 PM]
Bad news. I finally won't be able to get the case. Sad Sorry for you guys who were waiting for a pack...
lite_lover   [Mar 10, 2010 at 01:49 AM]
Oh well that's OK Vince, what happened to them?
TiCoune66   [Mar 10, 2010 at 02:13 AM]
They finally decided to keep them, even if they have no use anymore, as incandescent exit signs they were used into have been replaced years ago.
