Hi Dave but you may reduce the Lamp Life when using a 230v lamp on a 240v supply, since we have had the UK 240v supply harmnised to the EU 230v we still have 240v but as all UK Filament lamps are imported from the EU and China they are rated 230 volts they now seen to fail a lot quicker than the old British 240/250v Lamps.

@colin, 240v bulbs are no longer available in the UK? I thought they were.

@rjluna, the bulbs are USA made.

Hi Dave

Most Lamps are now rerated 230 Volts, but Osram, Philips and GE still supply 240 volts some 250 volts for Special Applications (such as Industrial Lighting)

Also I have Noticed Most Supermarkets and DIY Stores seem to sell less Filament Lamps, they seem to sell GLS lookalike Halogen and Compact Fluorescent Lamps although the sell Filament Lamps they are 60 watts or under
